Obituary of Robert Gary LLOYD

December 8, 1935 – December 23, 2011 Gary Lloyd, beloved husband of Shirley, passed away peacefully at Agape Hospice from lung cancer after having successfully beat Hodgkin’s disease 30 years ago. Gary was born and raised in Unity, Saskatchewan and obtained an engineering degree from the University of Saskatchewan, and his MBA from the University of Western Ontario in London. His successful business career included positions at Dominion Securities (Toronto), TransCanada Pipelines (Toronto and Calgary), and Canada News Wire (Calgary). Gary had a strong commitment to the Canadian Investor Relations Institute (CIRI), M&M Outdoor Club and St. Martin’s Anglican Church. Gary loved traveling and hiking with Shirley. He was known for his ready sense of humour on any occasion. Besides Shirley (nee Dressler), his loving wife of 52 years, he will be sadly missed by his mother Margaret Lloyd of Calgary; son Rob Lloyd and his wife Sandy, and their children Samantha and Evan of Hamilton; daughter Deanna Burchnall, her husband Glenn and their children Kaitlyn and Heather of Calgary. Gary was predeceased by his father Rob Roy Lloyd in 1963. Funeral Services will be held at Knox Presbyterian Church (an Anglican Service, 3704 – 37th Street S.W.) on Thursday December 29, 2011 at 1:00 pm.
