Obituary of Corrine Ruth TOEWS

June 3, 1928 – December 6, 2011 On Tuesday, December 6, 2011, Ruth passed away peacefully in her home at Cedars Villa in Calgary. Ruth was born in Calgary to William and Edith Walker and spent her childhood in Beiseker, Alberta along with her sister Betty and brothers, Ted and Ron. She was married to Hugo Henry Toews for the past sixty-four years and they had four boys together. Jerry and Robert both predeceased her. Hugo, Alan and Gord (Coral) will carry on with their memories. She has four grandchildren, Tyler and Maya from Robert and Brett and Tyler from Gord and Coral. While she struggled with the many frailties that old age brings, she always tried to be positive and was friendly and helpful to those around her. She always sought out roles that worked directly with people. She worked, for a time, as a switchboard operator but was especially fond of her time as an Avon Lady and her time as a “brownie” leader. She held many positions within the ladies auxiliary of the Royal Canadian Legion and was always volunteering to help those less fortunate then her. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, December 13, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, in lieu of flowers, memorial tributes in Ruth’s honour may be made directly to the Alberta Lung Association, P.O. Box 4500, Station South, Edmonton, AB T6E 6K2 Telephone: 1 (888) 566 – 5864. www.ab.lung.ca. Many thanks to her friends and caregivers that she met along the way.
