Obituary of Susan Louise ROSS

January 10, 1937 – December 2, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce our mother, grandmother and friend Susan Louise Ross passed away peacefully on Friday, December 2, 2011, after a long and courageous battle with ovarian cancer. Susan will be greatly missed by her children Monty (Christine), Drew (Sarah), and Sandra (Pat) and her grandchildren Jessica, Isobel, Kate, Hilary, Bob, Lucy and Bea, and countless friends. Susan was born in Toronto, raised in Montreal and educated at Bishops University. After moving to Calgary in 1967 and completing her BLS at the University of Alberta in 1975 she enjoyed a long career as a law librarian. Notwithstanding being predeceased by her husband in 1975 and raising three children on her own, Susan’s zest for life and positive demeanour endeared her to a great many people. She will always be remembered as a spunky, no-nonsense woman with a great spirit. She had the uncanny ability to have a wide variety of friends from a broad diversity of backgrounds and interests. She was always interested in other people’s thoughts and perspectives. Susan was extremely bright, with a keen wit and incredible sense of humor. She was a loving mother and grandmother and her wonderful sense of fun and adventure will be missed. She made the most of her last few years spending time walking beautiful beaches, exploring some of the world’s great cities and cultures, and enjoying her friends and family. Susan and her family would like to thank their supportive circle of friends for their love, encouragement and time. No words can adequately express Susan’s gratitude for the wonderful Dr. Ghatage and the Gynecological Oncology team, the Medical Day Care Unit staff who saw her through an astonishing 65 rounds of chemotherapy, Brian at Paragon Pharmacy, the staff at Unit 42, the Palliative Care team, and lastly the amazing people at Agapé Hospice. A celebration of Susan’s life will be held at The Glencoe Club (636 – 29 Avenue SW, Calgary, AB) on Monday, December 12, 2011 from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial tributes may be made in Susan’s name to Ovarian Cancer Canada, www.ovariancanada.org. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Susan Ross, a tree will be planted at Fish Creek Provincial Park by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES Park Memorial Chapel, 5008 ELBOW DRIVE S.W. Telephone: (403)243-8200.
