Obituary of Walter ROGALSKI

February 14, 1935 – November 24, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Walter, husband, father and Granddad. He is survived by his wife Donna, his daughter Kathie Bandelow (Ed Sammut), granddaughter Tiffany Bandelow, his son Paul (Carol) and granddaughters Anika and Kendall. He will be missed deeply by his family, including his sister-in-law and brother-in –law, Dixie and Skip Jeffery and his many nieces and nephews. Walter, a native Calgarian, was very active in his community throughout his life. He had a love for ‘his dogs’, a zest for the outdoors and enjoyed hiking in the mountains, skiing and golfing, and was an avid reader. He loved music and watching football and while he appreciated what each day had to bring, was happiest of all when surrounded by his family. He loved us all, and we loved him. Walter had a long and successful career with The Calgary Board of Education, spending his last 14 years before retirement as Principal of William Aberhart High School. He was a thoughtful and innovative leader and through his many accomplishments and subtle guidance earned great respect from his colleagues, students, friends and family. The family’s heartfelt thanks go to Cedar’s Villa Extendicare, Maple Unit and Special Services Unit 37 at the Foothills Hospital including Dr. Catherine McKenna for the care and support given during this difficult time. You are all angels. Funeral Services will be held at McInnis and Holloway “Chapel of the Bells” (2720 Centre Street North) Wednesday, November 30, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Graveside service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Society of Calgary, www.alzheimercalgary.com. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. In living memory of Walter Rogalski, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park Cochrane by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH Telephone: (403) 276-2296.
