Obituary of Bertha RAUSCH

November 5, 1931 – November 22, 2011 Bertha Rausch was called to her eternal home with the Lord on November 22, 2011. Bertha was born on November 5, 1931, in Forestburg, Alberta. The family then relocated to Vernon, BC, where Bertha spent much of her childhood. In her late teens, she relocated to Calgary, where she has lived all of her adult life. She worked in office administration for the City of Calgary. She retired from her career in 1996, giving her more time to pursue interests in her church, photography, outdoor activities, and lovingly caring for her friends and her much-loved cats. In Bertha’s younger years she was a skier and hiker, and enjoyed exploring the beauty of the nearby Rocky Mountains, as well as the walking paths in her Calgary neighbourhood. Above all, Bertha’s faith was demonstrated in her life by her compassion. Ever a lady, Bertha had a gentle spirit, and a wry sense of humour, which could lighten a situation, and brought relief to her recent years of illness. Bertha will be lovingly remembered and missed by her sister and dearest friend, Dorothy Rausch, brother, Ken (Isabel) Rausch, nieces and nephews, Rob (Jody) Rausch, Dawn (Craig) Whyte, Wayne (Ginette) Rausch, Karen Sommer, Helen (Don) Longshore, Brenda (Mike) O’Keefe, and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews and their young children. She was predeceased by five of her seven siblings. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, November 26, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
