Obituary of Daniel Joseph STACHIW

May 27, 1955 – November 16, 2011 It is with such deep sorrow that we announce the sudden passing of our beloved Danny on Wednesday, November 16, 2011. After a long and very courageous battle with heart disease, he quietly passed in the arms of those who love him. Missing him are his children whom he deeply loved and to whom he was dedicated, Rory of Wynyard, SK, Shawn, Aaron (Andi) and Samantha of Calgary; his partner and best friend, Leslie Crawford of Cochrane; his mother, Mary of Wynyard, SK; his brothers, Sylvester (Pauline) and Nester (Marguerite) of Saskatoon, SK; sister Patricia (Mike) of Victoria, BC; nephews, Greg (Cory) and their children Robbie and Kallie, Jody (Shannon) and their children Allysen and Jonathen, Sheldon, Marc (Maria) and son Victor and niece, Danielle of Saskatoon; the mothers of his children, Claudia Allen and Josee de Senneville; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins throughout Canada. He was predeceased by his father, Harry, in 1978. Danny was born in Wynyard, SK on May 27, 1955. He was always a high achiever and hard worker, holding a sharp sense of the dollar from early on. He excelled at the many jobs he held through his early years including farm hand, plucking chickens before school, and bartending at the Wynyard bar before being of legal age. He sold Kirby vacuums throughout Saskatchewan, receiving top salesman awards a number of times. In 1980, he attended SIAST, earning a ticket in refrigeration mechanics and starting his own successful refrigeration business. Beginning in Saskatoon and soon after moving to Edmonton then Calgary, Danny pursued his passion in the investment industry. He excelled at this for thirty-two years, creating many of his closest friendships and doing what he did best: making a dollar grow! He cherished his close and amicable relationships working alongside Rudy Reitveld and Cathy Macleod. Always a friend and willing to converse with anyone he met, Danny had an infectious optimism and warmth about him. He was always willing to contribute to his children’s endeavors through many years of coaching hockey, one of his many passions, and other volunteer work. He also loved to curl, work out, walk his dogs and listen to music. In May 2002, he received a Cardiac Transplant after many years of heart failure. He received his heart with love, living a full, happy and joyous life. Recently, his heart had begun to fail and he was again placed on the donor list. Sadly, this did not come to fruition. He was ever grateful and held in very high regard his long supporting Foothills Medical Center Transplant Team of Dr. Deb Isaac, Dr. Wayne Warnica, Bonnie, Joanne, Terry, Barb and Petra. They are a family to him! Danny created the Dear Heart Foundation, providing financial assistance to those requiring a cardiac transplant.
