Obituary of M. Jean RUBIN

March 12, 1930 – November 6, 2011 With heavy hearts and precious memories the family of Jean Rubin sadly announce her passing on Sunday, November 6, 2011 at the age of 81 years. Jean was born on the farm near Madden, Alberta. She married George Heffernan, her husband of thirty-six years, and together they raised three children in the community of Highwood, Calgary. After George’s untimely death in 1984, Jean worked and later retired from the Law Society of Alberta. She married Irving Rubin, who predeceased her in September 2011. Jean maintained many lifelong friendships and she was very proud of her family, especially her grandchildren. Jean will be lovingly remembered by her sons, Brian (Marilyn) Heffernan of Calgary and Gordon Heffernan of Kelowna; daughter Mary Ann (Bob) Peel of Carstairs; grandsons, Wes Heffernan of Calgary and Russell (Noriko) Peel of Mito, Japan; and granddaughters, Robin Peel of Calgary and Dawn (Dave) Smith of Okotoks. She is also survived by her brothers, John (Jean) Shepherd and Stan Shepherd; and many nieces, nephews and extended family members. Jean was predeceased by her husbands, George Heffernan and Irving Rubin; parents Thomas and Robina; brothers, Alex, Tommy, Bert and Ken; sister Mary; and grandson Robbie. Following a Family Graveside Service, relatives and friends are invited to a Gathering to celebrate Jean’s Life at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Saturday, November 12, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
