Vineeta, I wanted to express my condolences on Barry’s passing. You and your family have been in my thoughts and prayers. I’m sorry I have no words of wisdom to offer, only my best wishes at this tragic time. Sincerely, Geoff Fraser
Vineeta, as you already know, you are the only family member who I have met. I am confident that your late husband’s radiant smile genuinely reflected his love of his family and greater humanity.
The massive list of condolences above speaks volumes too.
However, I am simply not capable of comprehending the anguish that surely burdens you. I urge you to strive to regain, in due time, your similarly powerful smile for the benefit both yourself and your children. In addition, if you ever think of a way I can be of assistance, please don’t hestitate to ask, although it seems to me that it is quite a paltry offer. I can and will pray that God will give you that extra measure of parenting skill that now you will surely need.
– Andy

2004 June I worked indirectly for Barry and our co-worker Alicia was diagnosed with cancer. Alicia’s family lived in Peru, she had no one here. Upon many visits and conversations with Alicia, she held a positive attitude and continually expressed said she would see her family at Christmas. As the hospital contact, I received a call asking for me to come to the hospital, it was at this time Alicia needed her family. Returning to the office I went directly to Barry where he asked me the prognosis, I told him “it doesn’t look good and Alicia is asking for her family”. After immigration turned her family away with less than $300Cdn, we raised ~$10,000 in 8hrs and Barry pulled his magic with Joe Clark’s office as we needed a Security Bond. I never knew if the company put up the bond or if Barry did, but it didn’t really matter. Her parents arrived with everything detail in place including translators and police escorts. Because of his efforts, Mr. and Mrs. Ostos were able to fly their daughter home for her final resting place. For this on behalf of the OSTOS Family, Thank you Barry, we are Eternally Grateful for having an opportunity to be with our daughter.

Oh Vineeta,
My sincere condolences to you, your girls and both your families. It seems like only yesterday. I can still see Barry with the girls at Veera and Lance’s Wedding Ceremony …they were putting rose petals on his head as he sat with them. It was so sweet, I took a photo of them. I am very saddened and wishing you lots of love and light to carry on in the coming days.
Hugs,
Emily

Words cannot express the feelings felt when I heard the news. I got to know Barry really well during our tenure at Jumping Pound. During that time we were teammates at one of many JP hockey teams. I truly discovered Barry’s great sense of humour during this time. Barry was a great colleague, teammate and friend. I would like to offer my sincere condolonces to Vineeta and the rest of the family.
Dear Vineeta,
My deepest commiserations to you and the girls on Barry’s untimely passing. Barry was a kind and gentle soul that left everyone he came in contact with better than he met them. Vineeta,
We hope it helps to know that you and your children are in our thoughts today and through this incredibly difficult and sad time.

Bob Jefferis introduced Barry to me at the Project Directors’ Conference at Noordwijk on Monday 24 Oct 2011. We talked about how Barry and team will share the Onshore unconventional gas/oil experience in North America and Canada which could be collated and shared with us who will be working in China. I remembered Barry as very knowlegeable and active during the conference. His passing is very sad and will be sorely missed. I wish Barry’s family much strength in this difficult period.
Our deepest condolences and sympathy to you all and family.
Dear Vineeta,
My deepest sympathy for your loss. You and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.
Love and Hugs,
Verna
Dear Vineeta, and Barry’s Mom, Dad and Patrick: how awful. I still remember when Vineeta was planning her wedding to Barry–how excited she was. That they were to have a long and happy life has been taken, and that your son and only brother has been taken so early is devastating—we know, unfortunately, exactly how all of you feel having been in the same position some two years ago. But take heart, his absent presence is always near, and remember, the best ones go early.
Dear Vineeta,
I am so sorry to hear of Barry’s death. Please know that I am holding your family in my heart. May the love of your family and community carry you through these devastating times. Peace and love,
Shivana and family,
I am so sad and sorry to hear about your father. I remember the fun time we had when your dad took us on a bike ride to the store to buy candy. It is hard to be so far away but please know my heart is with you.
Love,
Claire Dobson (London, UK)

I am so saddened to hear of your loss. My thoughts go out to your family at this difficult time.
Barry and I met at the conference in the Netherlands and followed up with some correspondence on an engineering issue. He struck me as an enthusiastic and energetic young man, which is borne out by his obituary. Very sad to hear about his sudden death.
Dear Vineeta, Shivana, and Shalina
Barry’s passing has saddened me beyond words, my heart goes out to your family in this difficult time. Our family is devastated to have heard that, your husband, your children’s father and our good friend Barry, is no longer here with us. We want you to know that you and the girls have been thought of every single day since we heard the news, and we also want you to know that we will be here for you, when you need us and I truly mean that. You have many people around you now and that is good and so very important but we will be there after too, this I will promise you. We will make a point to connect and check in and see how you are managing and provide any assistance that we can. We care for you deeply and so wish we could take the pain away but . . . . only time will allow that pain to lessen. You and the girls are in our thoughts always and we (your friends in Prince George) are so very sad that this has happened to you, to your beautiful girls and to those of us that cared for such a generous man.
Many hugs and much love being sent your way
Your friends always
Bernadette, Scott, Jared and Kendra Kipping
Easter Seals was so fortunate to have Barry as a leader and passionate volunteer for so many years. We will always remember his commitment to rebuilding our camp, and will endeavour to carry on his dream. His love for Vineeta and his little “ladies” was so evident to all of us who knew him – our love and prayers go out to his family.
I was very sad to hear Barry passed away. He was a very supportive colleague in my time at Shell and we became good friends. He was also my linemate on the Shell hockey team. I will never forget Barry’s supportive nature and willingness to lend a had for any cause. My heart goes out to your family.
Our deepest condolences to Vineeta and the girls and the Maguire and Khare families. Words can not express our sense of loss and sadness at this painful time. As one of Barry’s Easter Seals “family” and as a fellow board member I can attest to how passionate and enthused he was to participate in all matters of governance and management of Easter Seals Camp Horizon. He lent his substantial skills and expertise to a very worthwhile cause knowing he was putting something back into the community that he lived in. I know Vineeta and family would be rightfully proud of what Barry accomplished in a relatively short period of time. Our prayers are with you.
I acquired a great deal of respect and admiration for Barry, in both our many years of service together on the Shell United Way executive team and in my dealings with him at work. Our community is a poorer place without him. My heart-felt condolences go out to his wife, kids and family.
Dear Vineeta and family; I was deeply saddened to learn of your sudden loss. I want to extend my deepest condolences and prayers to you and your family.
Sincerely, Morgan Kwan
