Obituary of Barry MAGUIRE

October 27, 1966 – October 30, 2011 Barry Maguire, beloved husband of Vineeta of Calgary, Alberta, passed away suddenly in the Netherlands on Sunday, October 30, 2011 at the age of 45 years. Barry was born in Montreal and raised in Hull, QC, where he developed the beginnings of a lifelong interest in fitness and sports, ultimately playing Major Junior ice hockey in Shawinigan, QC, and later playing with the University of Ottawa. Barry was an accomplished golfer and skier who loved outdoor adventures of all sorts with his family and friends. Barry graduated from the University of Ottawa in Chemical Engineering. As a professional engineer working in the oil and gas industry, his leadership abilities and interpersonal acumen enabled his rise into senior leadership at Shell Energy Canada, during his 23 year career with Shell. At the time of his passing, Barry was General Manager, Design Engineering – Onshore North America. He was very active in philanthropic causes, including roles on the Board of Directors for Easter Seals Canada and as a key member of the United Way campaign for Shell Canada. Besides his wife Vineeta, Barry is survived by his loving daughters Shivana and Shalina, by his parents, Bernard and Diane Maguire and brother, Patrick Maguire of Gatineau (Hull), QC. Barry’s great joy and love for his family were constants in his life. Barry’s intellect, insights, sense of humour and out-of-doors companionship will be sorely missed by the Khare and Maguire families. We will always remember him as a loving family man, with boundless energy, drive and compassion. A Funeral Service will be held at St. Stephen’s Church, 212 Chemin Old Chelsea, Chelsea, QC, J9B 1J6, on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at 11:00 AM. A Memorial Service will be held at Knox United Church, 506 4th Street SW, Calgary, Alberta, T2P 1S7, Tuesday, November 8, 2011 at 2:00 pm.
