Alana and I met in London, a city she really enjoyed. We worked together but despite our age difference we hit it off as friends from the very beginning. I couldn’t think of anybody who wouldn’t get on with Alana, she was and will be one of the kindest and loving persons I have ever met. I have so many lovely memories I hold dear. All my deepest sympathy to you Randy, Cheryl, Lindsay, Dereck and Nikita.
My deepest sympathies and prayers go out to Randy, Dereck, Lindsay and Nikita; Alana will be deeply missed by all of us who knew her. She was a true friend, full of life, adventure and laughter. We shared many adventures over the thirty plus years we knew each other and although my heart is breaking, I know you are free of pain and at peace among the angels. Love you forever my friend, Jeannette.
My condolences to the entire family. What an amazing and inspiring woman. Her spirit will live on through the inspiration she provided her family.
Much Love

Alana you have truly touched the lives of so many … the memories of our girlfriend trips, San Fran, Chicago, and the cottage in the Rockies I hold close to my heart, we laughed & teased, and your compassion for others words cannot describe. I will never forget the Double Rainbow and the seven dwarfs. I will miss you.
I know you are that Angel that will always be there guiding Lindsay, Dereck your children and your most precious gifts and at this time ask the creator to comfort Randy and the kids with LOVE and your spirit.

A bright light may have been extinguished but she has left a beautiful bright light within all of us. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
We are not able to express our sadness enough, and our words can never begin to reflect the true essence of Alana’s spirit in this world. We do however catch a glimpse of her magic in the smiles and laughter of our memories with her. In this place her spirit continues to warm and touch our hearts. An astonishing lady in life, we are so proud to have known her during her quest of joy for the world. Somehow she has managed to achieve mortality beyond her physical being through the grace of her footsteps amongst us on our mother earth. If you know Alana, then you know that of which we speak.
Many more children and their families lives are enriched today because of Alana’s gifts…

Dear Randy, Derek, Lindsay and family,
Please know you have all been in my heart for the past two months. Alana was a wonderful niece, I will miss the good times we shared together, most recently, this past summer.
You are in my thoughts. Try to cherish those special moments you shared with her (somehow, it will be those moments) that will carry you through.
Alana is on her journey, and I know she is flying high, over some mountain top!
Much love,
Uncle, Gary

It saddened my family & I deeply to hear of the passing of Alana. Our deepest sympathy for her family. It is truly a great loss for all who knew her. We met Alana 9 years ago, when she was the Parent Liaison for Medicine Wheel Early Learning Center. Both of my children went there and she helped us out in so many ways. She was there for us, when we suffered a great loss. She spent many hours with us at that time. She also helped us with getting a house through Habitat for Humanity. The kind words she said in her letter of recommendation about us were greatly appreciated. She helped with the building of our house putting in a hard day of work on her own time away from her family. She also helped with getting my husband employment at Metis Calgary Family Services when she mentioned to him that there was a position that needed to be filled. He did the rest. That job helped him heal from the passing of his mother. She was always there for us. Alana was truly a great lady and she will be missed. My prayers & heart are with the Martin Family.
I am so sorry for your loss. Alana was a wonderful friend to many people including myself. She was such a great role model and I learned alot from her. I am thankful that she was a part of my life and that I had a chance to visit with her before she left. She was very proud of her family and talked about you all the time. My prayers are with you…
