We have been away, so late in offering our condolences on Royden’s passing. We have many fond memories of the early CT years in Ontario, (Les in Walkerton) before moving beyond a short drive between stores. Royden’s exuberance was infections; we didn’t think he knew the word ‘impossible’ even existed! May the memories of all your wonderful years as a family help you through this difficult time. I can’t believe that Royden is gone. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and a great friend. He loved you all that was so evident. He brought laughter, joy and fun into your lives. His spontaneity, love of life, laughter and smile were contagious. Nothing was more important to him that family. He lived life to the fullest, there was no such thing as a glass half full. We are so sorry to hear of Royden’s passing. I have many great memories of times spent with Royden. When I drive down Oliver Rd. past the Whitney residence I often think of the times I spent there with the family, eating Ma Whitney’s tea biscuits with strawberries and cream. Sometimes Royden would get his father’s car and we would go cruising. We often slept in the hay loft at Chercovers, then get up early to go horse back riding. Mary & I have fond memories of our visit with you in Calgary. Our ski trip to Banff with you and Royden and Ingrid & Satch and the hospitality you extended to us in your home. Royden and I even saddled up the horses and rode into the back country. We both have many fond memories of great times we spent together. Rest in peace Royden and may love surround your family at this sad time.

Words cannot likely alleviate the pain that you are all going through but we have been thinking about you since we heard the news.

I have nothing but fond memories of Uncle Royden. I always cherished the times that we spent together and was very appreciative of him taking the time to go out for dinner with me whether it was in Toronto or Calgary. He was someone that I looked up to, not only for advice on business but on life as well, and felt that I could talk to him about anything. He was truly a special uncle.

I will forever remember him for his great sense of humour, big laugh and constant smile on his face.

I know that this will be a difficult time for all but our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Darlene – I was sad to hear of Royden’s passing. Don Graham and I were the Vancouver dealers starting in 1979 and were part of the BC/AB group of CTC. I met Royden many times at meetings and was his room mate on a couple of fishing trips to the QC Islands. Time spent with Royden was time well spent – he was fun to be with.

Very sorry to read Royden’s obituary in today’s Thunder Bay Chronicle Journal. Royden & I chummed together for a few years while in high school and playing hockey. Last time we saw him was in Dryden at his nephew Bruce’s wedding. Glad to read you got to celebrate your 50th. We just got back from a cruise which was for our 50th on Dec. 1st.
