Obituary of Lloyd George GEDDES
August 13, 1916 – October 15, 2011
Lloyd George (Hap) Geddes died Saturday, October 15, 2011 at 95 years of age.
He leaves to mourn his son Clinton (Marilyn) and grandchildren Julian, Esther, Anna and Sean; and his daughter Jennifer (Gregg) and grandchildren Cathryn (Cameron), Joel (Callie), and Clare.
Born and raised in Grenfell, Saskatchewan, Hap joined the RCAF early in WWII. He served as a navigator and was imprisoned in Stalag Luft III for the last three years of the war. On returning, he met and married his beloved Dorothy in 1946; they enjoyed 59 years together, most of them in Calgary. Hap will be fondly remembered by so many for his gentle spirit and delightful sense of humour. A true gentleman, he welcomed and appreciated each one who came his way.
A Funeral Service in celebration of Hap’s life will be held at St. Peter’s Anglican Church (903 – 75 Avenue S.W.) on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Condolences may be forwarded through mcinnisandholloway.com. If so desired, please make a donation to a charity of your choice, in Hap’s honour. Heartfelt thanks from the family are extended to the many kind and caring staff in the Lancaster Wing of the Colonel Belcher Carewest (Calgary) who helped him through his last few years. Our deep gratitude goes out to Barbara Cadman who, as Hap’s caregiver and companion, added so much to the quality of Hap’s life.
