Obituary of Richard Thomas MARSHALL

May 6, 1934 – October 5, 2011 Richard Marshall passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at the age of 77 years. Richard earned his commission with the Alberta Light Horse Regiment and completed his military career as 2IC of the Kings Own Calgary Regiment. His career as an engineer spanned Western Minerals, CPOG, British Petroleum, a founding member of Fording Coal, and as President of the Coal Association of Canada. He was a member of the CIM, the Canadian Club and an instructor with Patient Partners of Arthritis. The love for his family, friends and the community at St. David’s United Church were his biggest passions. Richard is survived by his wife of fifty-four years Jean, his children, Lee, Kathy (Harry) and Scott (Marcela); as well as three sisters, Betty Margaret and Lillian. A celebration of his life will be held at St. David’s United Church (3303 Capitol Hill Crescent N.W.) on Thursday October 13, 2011 at 1:00 pm The family would like to thank the staff of Unit 46 at the Tom Baker Cancer Centre and Unit 2 at Sarcee Auxiliary Hospital. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the St. David’s United Church Foundation or the Calgary Humane Society, www.calgaryhumane.ca. In living memory of Richard Marshall, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park Cochrane.
