Obituary of Franz Dieter HONIG

January 19, 1961 – September 28, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Franz Honig, beloved husband of Huong Le on Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at the age of 50 years due to complications from a cardiac event. Franz Honig was born on January 19, 1961 in Opladen, Germany. He moved to Canada with his family in 1976, attended Cochrane High School, and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree from the University of Calgary. He was employed by Chemtron MFG Ltd. for over 20 years, where he met the love of his life, Huong. He had a green thumb, enjoyed gardening and the outdoors. He will always be remembered for his presence with his camera at family gatherings, taking pictures of all that tickled his fancy and curiosity. His interest in music was broad and extensive. He enjoyed collecting figurines of all sorts, decorating the house and delighting people with his displays at Christmas, Easter, Halloween, in fact any time of year. He was a child at heart, and will be dearly missed by his collection of stuffed toys and all that knew him as well. Franz is survived by his wife Huong Le; his mother Caecilia; sisters Regina (Dieter), Theresia and Maria (Allen); brothers Richard (Denise) and Stephan; nieces Samantha and Christine; nephew Fabian as well as numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. He was predeceased by his father Dieter. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at St. Peter’s Catholic Church (541 Silvergrove Drive N.W.) on Tuesday, October 4 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Peter’s Catholic Church (541 Silvergrove Drive N.W.) on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
