Obituary of Mervin William Merv GRAHAM

September 24, 1932 – December 25, 2018 Mervin William Graham (Merv), beloved husband and father, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, December 25, 2018, at the age of 86 years and is lovingly remembered by his family and friends. Merv was born in Russell, ON, on September 24, 1932, and grew up on the family farm where he was the middle child of five children. As a young man, Merv headed west and found work in the oilpatch with his brother, Willard. He met Cecilia Pascal while she was working as a nurse at the Didsbury Hospital. They were married November 8, 1951 and raised six children. Merv’s career at Mobil Oil enabled the family to live in Alberta, Saskatchewan, Nova Scotia, Newfoundland, Alaska, and Norway, eventually retiring in Calgary in 1988, to be close to family. Merv enjoyed golfing, curling, downhill skiing, his 1929 Ford Model A, travelling and working around the house and making improvements and updates to it. His activities included being active in the Model A Club and skiing with the kids from Wood’s Homes. Merv is survived by his children, Nora Curlett (Hal), Timothy, Judson, Roberta Funk, Theresa McNish, and Christina Thompson (Allan); along with nineteen grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren; sister Lillis Morrice; sister-in-law Verla Graham; and numerous nieces and nephews; and of course his dog Sable. He is predeceased by his loving wife Cecilia; his parents Percy and Lulu Graham; brother and sister-in-law, Willard and Dorothy (Dot) Graham; brother and sister-in-law, Eldred (Dave) and Jackie Graham; brother, Bevis Graham; brother-in-law, Lloyd Morrice; daughter-in-law, Linda Graham (Tim); grandson, Austin Curlett; and sons-in-law, Ken Funk (Roberta) and Colin McNish (Theresa). Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church () on Friday, January 4, 2019 4:00 p.m. followed by a Celebration of Life in the Hospitality Centre at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY () at 5:30 p.m. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Alberta, 200, 119 – 14th Street N.W., Calgary, AB T2N 1Z6 Telephone: (403) 264-5549, .
