Obituary of CAREY – Lawrence Abram

October 22, 1920 – August 21, 2011 Larry Carey, beloved husband of 57 years to Rita Carey of Calgary, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2011 at the age of 90 years. Larry was born in Black Cape, Quebec in 1920 and proudly served overseas in WWII in the Canadian Army. Larry and Rita were married in Shawinigan Falls, Quebec on September 4, 1954. After working in India, Montreal and the Yukon Territory, Larry and Rita settled in Calgary in 1959. Larry enjoyed a fulfilling career as a civil engineer working for Montreal Engineering Company / AGRA Monenco, retiring as Vice President in 1985. Larry was a long time member of Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club, where he achieved the envious distinction of 3 holes-in-one, and also played bridge with friends in the winter. Besides his loving wife Rita, Larry is survived by his children and their spouses: Jim Carey (Cathy), Miriam Carey (Errol), Anne Thomson (David) and David Carey (Patricia); and his five grandchildren: Hilary, Robyn, Zoe, Scott and Jackson. A celebration of Larry’s life will be held at Canyon Meadows Golf and Country Club (12501 – 14 St. S.W.) on Sunday, August 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
