Condolences
My most sincere condolences to George’s family and close friends. He was truly a wonderful person and will be greatly missed.
Dear Jean and Family,
It is with great sadness that we offer our sincere love and condolences to you and to all who knew and appreciated George for his kind, positive nature. He was a friend to everyone who knew him. George will be remembered for the many lives he brightened with each passing day….
Dear Jean and Family, on behalf of the Board of Directors of the Foundation Fighting Blindness, please accept our most sincere condolences on the passing of a great husband, father and grandfather. Personally, I will miss George’s sage advice, his generosity of spirit and the twinkle in his eye. Of all his accomplishments, and there were so many, he was also an enthusiastic philanthopist who believed in a better future. He was a wonderful man.
Dear Aunt Jean, Mary Ann, Charles and Elizabeth,
We were so sorry to hear that Uncle George passed away. He will be dearly missed. Please accept our heartfelt condolences and know that we are thinking of you.
Love,
Rose, Jeanette and Diana
My sincerest condolences to Jean, Elizabeth and family. I had a lot of good laughs with George and will think of him often with tremendous affection. He was a great guy and a great man. Here’s to a life well lived!
Jean and family please accept my deepest sympathies at the passing of George. He was a good friend and mentor to me for over 30 years. I will forever remember his quick wit and tremendous sense of humour. He was respected and loved by all who knew him. He will be dearly missed.
Dear Jean,
My thoughts are with you and your family during these sad days. My condolences to you your family. Try to remember all the good times you have shared together! Love Alice.
I am very sad to hear that George passed away. I will always remember his soft spoken manner, his generosity and his many kindnesses to me. He got me my first job at Nesbitt Burns, the first trade I did was for him, and he was supportive during some very trying times. My sympathies to the Oughtred family, I am sorry for your loss.
My condolences to George’s close and exended family and friends. He was very supportive of any new enterprises I became involved in either of a business or private nature and gave his advice willingly and honestly. I missed seeing him and family at Christmas dinner at the King Edward after my mother passed away. He will be sadly missed by all who knew him.
I had the privilege and honour to work with Mr. George Oughtred at Kernaghan and Company during the 1960s and early 70s. He was a delight, someone who made the place enjoyable. He shall be greatly missed.

Dear Jean and family – it was with utmost sadness that I heard of George’s passing this morning. I fondly remember working with George (and of course, Sanny, Jen, Bob and others at Purchase) in 1997 to 1999. George was one of the most interesting people that I have come across in my career. I will always cherish his honesty, integrity, insights and keen sense of humour – he was truly one of a kind. I was most fortunate to have known him and to have had the pleasure of working for him. May he rest in peace. Larry Thiessen.
