Obituary of HAYES – Elsie

October 4, 1916 – June 23, 2011 It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Elsie Hayes on Thursday, June 23, 2011 after a short illness. Elsie was born in Sutherland, Saskatchewan and started her teaching career in 1934. She taught in many rural one room school houses in Saskatchewan before moving to Calgary in 1942. She taught for the Calgary Board of Education from 1957 until 1972 and loved teaching and learning. Elsie was predeceased by her husband of 57 years, Bill (2005). Elsie will be remembered with much love by her daughters, Debbie (Dale) Thompson and Darlene Hayes, grandchildren, Brad and Erin (fiancé Ed Palmer) Thompson, and Judith Sherin. Elsie will be missed by her sisters-in-law, Amy Hayes, Rose Hayes, Sadie Hayes, Audrey Bartanus and Ann Hayes and her brother-in-law Richard Jones as well as cherished nieces and nephews. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Tuesday, June 28, 2011 at 11:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
