I wanted to come to the service, however I am at the opposite end of Calgary and I won’t make it. I’ll say a prayer for Mr. Hotchkiss and your family. God bless

I am so sorry at your loss.
I knew Harley from the Bank when I first met him in 1954. I left Calgary in 1957 and had not seen him until 1971 or 1972. We passed in the TD Bldg. on 7th. Ave. I’m not a very important person but Harley remembered me and spoke first. This might not seem important, but it made me feel so good that a man of his position took time to stop and talk to me. I’ll always remember his kind gesture.

On behalf of my mother Jean, and our entire family we pass our sincere condolences to your family. Harley was most gracious in helping Trevor and Geoff feel welcome during their time in Calgary. My mother Jean and late father (Merlyn) often reminisced of the wonderful hospitality Harley and Rebecca extended them on their visit in the 70s. Harley (and your entire family) touched many lives in a most positive way.
Dear Hotchkiss Family,
Peter & I would like to express our heartfelt condolences to you for the loss of your husband, father and friend. He was a great and humble man, who has left a far reaching imprint in his community and beyond. As wonderful as his contributions to hockey have been, I believe his (and Becky and Brenda) support and vision with the Hotchkiss Brain Institute resonates as his most enduring legacy.

Our years have reflected a remarkable period in history, to which Harley, you and Family made major contributions. We were shocked and saddened to here of Harley’s passing. On behalf of the Suncor aviation department we would like to offer our condolences to the Hotchkiss family. We will be thinking of you during this difficult time.
There are at least three things in life you should be a champion in… raise a good family with more love than you thought you had, support a great cause you believe in, and be a honorable person. My best friend Jeff’s father was a hall of famer in all three areas. And I suspect there are all lot more passions that he would add to the list.
My best to his great family. He left a legacy of honor and happiness and the world he touched is a better place because of Harley.
I think he would want to toast his success and his love for his family.
Cheers to all of the Hotchkiss family!
There will always be a Stanley Cup in my rear view mirror.

Dear Becky & Family:
Frances and I would like to express our deepest heartfelt Sympathy. We have shared many wonderful events over the years including family Weddings, Baptisms. and Anniversaries. As well as games at the Saddledome and times at Doc Seaman`s OH Ranch. We have his autograph book “Hat Trick. He scored many hat tricks in every field of endeavour. We appreciate his kindness to us as well as all he has done for Calgary and Canada. A true Gentleman indeed. His example of not waiting to contribute, but Act Now is an example to all. Dear Hotchkiss Family:
On behalf of my family, I would like to express our deepest heartfelt sympathy. I personally knew Harley as a very young boy working on his farm in Aylmer, Ontario. He was a true gentleman, always friendly and easy to talk to. When I left Aylmer to study criminology at the University of Windsor, he wished me well and advised me to pursue my dreams. He was definitely a true class act, and will always be remembered as such. The work & dedication that he geared towards working with the Calgary Flames and his passion for hockey will also be remembered.
My respects and condolences to his family and friends.
Henry & Goldie Penner
