Condolences
Dolores was my mother’s (Shirley Desjardins) first cousin. They each were living the other’s life. In 1956 Dolores survived a plane crash during her time as a flight attendant. She was one of 15 survivors of the DC4 crash in August 1956 in Cold Bay, Alaska. The story hit the front pages of Air Force Times. My mother saw the article when we were living in Northern Japan where my father was stationed. I did not know her last name and am sorry to hear she passed so recently.
It has been some time since our last visit together and, at that time, Dolores was a very vibrant and radiant young woman. We will remember her that way. The years are not always kind, but the Dolores we knew never complained. Ironically, my brother Arthur Alexander, passed away shortly before Dolores. It is difficult to say the final good-bye.
