Ralph and all of Herm’s family
Our sincerest sympathies. There are no words to express how deeply saddened we are. We have lost a very special lady. She has been a very dear friend and a wonderful mentor. Our sincerest sympathies, thoughts and love to you!

I join with those who send their condolences and sympathies to Ralph Ulmer on the loss of Hermien. She had a natural instinct for marketing, and an intuitive feel for what motivates people to act. She was a quick study, and a capable administrator. Her level-headed good humour and sense of mischief made working with Hermien, and knowing her, a joy. There wasn’t a day we didn’t, or couldn’t share a laugh. I will miss her.
Ralph and family,
I also am deeply saddened by the passing of this wonderful lady.
I still remember when she was hired at CDSL many years ago. Along came this beautiful, tall, smart, deep sexy voiced woman with the quick wit and zest for life. She was a delight then and I gather, a delight her entire life.
“Life is not measured by the number of breaths we take but by the moments that take our breath away”.
Herm had the good fortune to be deeply loved by Ralph and many others. Her’s was a life well lived. May her mmemories bring you much comfort and eventually, joy.
Hermina’s Bubbly personality will always be in our thoughtss as well as the last time we saw her and Ralph at a Blue Jay game.
Ralph, I am so sorry for your loss. Herm had a zest for life that was infectious, and she wore it well. She was a great boss and a good friend and truly one of a kind.
Dear Ralph and family, We are so sorry for your loss. I remember Hermien as an older and cool cousin. We had a lot of fun together way back in the day on Puccini Drive. I thank her for the music. I found these word and thought this says it all.”What moves through us is a silence, a quiet sadness, a longing for one more day, one more word, one more touch, we may not understand why you left this earth so soon, or why you left before we were ready to say good-bye, but little by little, we begin to remember not just that you died, but that you lived. And that your life gave us memories too beautiful to forget.” Take Care of yourselves.
Sincerely, Lesley
Ralph and family:
We are so saddened by the news of your loss of Hermina. You are in our thoughts and prayers.
Hermien welcomed me to the CDSL family on October 2, 1989. She took me under her wing to learn what was involved in being part of a great team. I remember very long days and weekends working with her on the Ministry of Health Ontario proposal while listening to The Phantom of the Opera sound track blaring as loud as possible on the cassette player while Hermien danced through the aisles to burn off energy at 1:00a.m.on Saturday night. She always had a smile on her face, a twinkle in her eye and a huge heart for life. What a great woman to have had the pleasure to have known. Ralph, I know that you have lost the love of your life…but imagine what your life would have been without her. You were soulmates and blessed to be together. Deepest sympathy to you and your families.
Dear Ralph and extended family, I am shocked and saddened to hear of Hermina’s passing. She has such a huge influence on me during the CDSL days, I learned so much from her. We also had a lot of fun, I can still hear her booming laugh. Family was always first for Hermina, especially the children, and my heart is aching for you all. Sincerely Barb Flewwelling
Ralph and family/the entire Pluimers family:
My very deepest sympathy to all of you on the loss of a remarkable lady. I didn’t get to see Hermina often but always enjoyed the times our paths crossed. I am so grateful to have seen her in October at Matt’s wedding and gone to dinner with all the local ladies before she headed back to Calgary.
Cherish the memories and the legacy she has left to all who loved her.
Sincerely,
Kathy (an Ontario friend)

On behalf of the family in Holland Wierden I’d like to send condolences for the death of Hermina and wish you lots of strength in this difficult time. We are with you in mind and regret once again that the distance in these situations is so very far between us. Again all the best for everyone.
Aunt Mien was an amazing inspiration to us all. Losing her presence here will be hard for so many as we always looked forward to her visits to Ontario. We send all our love to you Uncle Ralph and thank you for loving her so completely. To Aunt Yetty: thank you for being her “keeper” during her battle–we all know she wouldn’t have wanted it any other way. <3
I am deeply saddened by this news. I met Hermina when she enrolled in one of my graduate classes as a PhD student. She was a joy and an inspiration. Her love of life and thoughtful and unique perspective richly contributed to our learning environment. After completing her PhD, I asked Hermina if she would consider teaching in our graduate program. Her presence and deep knowledge, coupled with her compassion and sensitivity made a significant difference in the lives of many. She touched my life in profound ways. She was, is, and will always be a gift to all of us.
My warmest regards to Hermina’s family
