Obituary of URIE – Marjorie Joan

August 6, 1931 – May 18, 2011 Joan Urie died at home Wednesday, May 18, 2011. She is lovingly remembered and will be sadly missed by her brother Robert Urie (Sylke) of Kincardine, ON; sisters, Kathleen Bell (Bill) of Deloraine, MB and Nora Halladay (Ian) of Calgary; and nephews, Brian, Dean and Grant Bell, Bruce Halladay and Craig, Brent and Glenn Urie. Joan was born in Minnedosa, MB August 6, 1931 then moved with her family to Brandon where she completed High School. She received her BA at Brandon College, BEd at University of Manitoba and MEd at University of Saskatchewan in Saskatoon. Joan taught High School in Manitoba and in Calgary. She was happiest at family gatherings and loved skiing, traveling, hiking, playing bridge and reading. She enjoyed her involvement with the Calgary School Board Employees. A Celebration of Joan’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Tuesday, May 24, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Cremation has taken place.
