Lyle Thompson, beloved husband of Kathy Turner of Airdrie, AB, passed away, after a long, hard battle with brain cancer, on Friday, May 13, 2011 at the age of 55 years.
Born in Winnipeg, Manitoba on April 4, 1956, Lyle attended Kelvin High School and graduated from the University of Manitoba with a B.Sc. Eng (Civil). Lyle worked for various prairie engineering firms constructing malls, bridges and buildings. Lyle’s world revolved around the well being of his children, they were his greatest source of pride. Lyle was a very special man – kind, courageous, never complaining, forever logical, always seeking knowledge and sharing his knowledge. Photography was one of his joys, when Lyle and Kathy travelled to tropical destinations or his beloved Alberta Rockies many souvenirs were taken. Lyle’s easy nature, positive attitude, intelligence and loyalty will be missed terribly by all who knew him.
Lyle leaves behind to mourn his passing, his best friend and wife Kathy; children David, Richard, Robert and Stephanie; step-children Carrie (Cameron) Davies and Tammy Gervais (Brendon Langlois); parents Gordon and Doreen; sister Brenda (Ken) Leach and brother Keith (Patti); grandchildren, nieces, nephews and many friends.
