November 14, 1925 – May 8, 2011 Ada Jean Droniuk, lovingly supported by family, passed away peacefully in Calgary on Mother’s Day in her 86th year. She will forever be remembered by her devoted and beloved husband William (Bill); her children Randy (Susan), Larry (Sandy), and Lisa; her grandchildren Corey, Claire, and Jamie; her nephew Steven and niece Faye; her brother and sister-in-law Bill and Marie; and countless friends, colleagues, and former students. All were touched by her passion for life, adventure, and learning. She was predeceased by her parents Steven and Veronica (Minnie), and brothers Frederick and Harry. Ada was born in Lethbridge, Alberta and went on to earn a B.Sc. from the University of Alberta, leading to a 15 year career as a hospital dietician in Ontario. Following a relocation to Montreal, Ada’s perseverance earned her a teaching diploma with honours and subsequent 15 year career as a biology teacher, imparting her passion for learning on a generation of adoring students. Ada’s retirement was spent in Oakville, Ontario, White Rock, B.C., and finally Calgary, Alberta with her loving partner of 62 years, William. These years were spent enjoying her family and many friendships, traveling to her “home away from home”, the French Riviera, and spending countless hours plying her talents creating magnificent soapstone sculptures. Her compassion and sense of humour were evident until the end. Grammy, you will always be remembered! A private family service was held on Wednesday, May 11, 2011.
