Obituary of CHERBAN – Zenan Alexander
October 17, 1929 – May 6, 2011
It is with great sadness that the family of Zenan Cherban announce his passing after a two year courageous battle with cancer on Friday, May 6, 2011 at the age of 81 years.
Zenan was born in Winnipegosis, MB. He was a proud member of the Calgary City Police Service for thirty-two years (April 3, 1956 – April 9, 1988). Zenan loved the outdoors, spending time golfing, fishing or vacationing in Hawaii. He was an avid curler during the winter months. Most of all, Zenan cherished the time spent with his family.
Zenan is survived by his loving wife of fifty-four years Isabel; daughters, Brenda (Ron) Pelkey, Patricia (Casey) Goedhart; sons, Brent (Erin) of Richmond, BC, and Darren (Maureen); his beloved grandchildren Tyler and Marlise Pelkey, Patrick and Caitlin Goedhart, Brittany and Justin Cherban, and Clive Cherban; and brothers Marvin and Sandy, of Birch River, MB.
A private family funeral was held at Zenan’s request on Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at 2:00 p.m., followed by a graveside service at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
