Condolences
Es un dolor; pero a la vez el nacimiento de una esperanza, pues se ha iniciado el camino hacia el reencuentro, al que todos acudiremos de la mano de nuestro creador. Hermano John: hasta pronto.

Our deepest sympathy to the families of John and Edme. It was a shock to hear of John’s passing; he was a very intelligent, soft spoken man who was passionate and genuine. We didn’t know you long enough; you will be sadly missed, John. Edme, we are thinking of you and hope to make contact. Our prayers and love go out to you and your family. rebekah.hiltz467@keyanomail.ca.
John was a good friend and a great work mate. He was instrumental in making our days within REAP rich and rewarding.
I my deepest sympathies to John’s family, he will be greatly missed.
REAP was a bunch of oddballs that achieved great things. John fit right in. He was meticulous, intense, focused and brilliant. Making a meaningful contribution and doing what was right defined his life. You were a point of light John, you left us much too soon and you will be much missed. My thoughts and prayers are with you Edme and all of John’s family.
Sorry to hear of John’s passing – worked with John in the good old REAP days
Very sorry to hear of the passing of John. Edme, we met at Martha’s memorial. Very sorry for your loss. A very courageous and clear thinking man. I will miss him.
My condolences to Edme and all of John’s family – I’m sorry for your loss. Working with John over several years I always appreciated his consistent support, his intelligence and his sense of humour. (Oh, and wearing running shoes with a suit was always a nice touch.) Too soon.
John and I worked together at the Resource Planning Branch of REAP for over a decade. We were blessed to be associated a remarkable “troupe” of professional planners and natural resource managers that not only worked hard in the public interest, but did so where innovation and fun were operative principles. Those days of comraderie, peronal and team growth and friendship are legendary. Each day was touched in many special ways by John’s passions: for family, at home and at work; for fair play, ensuring everyone was left better off working together than at cross purposes; and for open intellectual debate to make Alberta, his much cherished home province, a better place for future generations. John’s passing is to be celebrated for his wonderful accomplishments as a public servant, husband, father, grandfather and friend to all.
The great memories of a professional collegue and friend include yearly REAP managers meetings, the annual Banff-Jasper relays on the Mean Mountain Men team and never to forget John’s involvement with the Little Sisters of REAP Caper for Fred McDougall at the Deputy Minister’s Christmas Lunch in the Discovery Lounge in 1985. Memories will live on. To Edme and Family my sincere condolence.
Many memories of John from the glory days of REAP! A brilliant and unique individual. He will be sorely missed. My condolences to his wife and family.
I always enjoyed meeting up with John and trusted him very much. He always was very fair minded. Have been thinking about him all day and offer my sincere condolences to his entire family.
A good, good man…
Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family Edme.
My condolences and prayers to John’s wife, family and children. As my supervisor in the REAP days, I remember an unusual healthy ‘beet’ cake for the monthly unbirthday staff events. It was good! Also remember the training runs in the Edmonton river valley where discussions about intergrated resource planning (IRP) matters occurred. His interest in improving IRP were appreciated.
