Obituary of PEARSON – Stanley Gordon Breckenridge
December 12, 1917– April 10, 2011
It is with deepest sadness that the family of Stan Pearson announces his passing on Sunday, April 10, 2011 at the age of 93 years.
Stan was born in Pincher Creek, AB where he attended public and high school. He received from the University of Alberta a B Sc. Degree majoring in geology in 1941 and also did one year of post graduate study. In 1942 he joined the Royal Canadian Artillery and after serving as a Lieutenant in Sicily, Italy and Holland returned to Canada and retired from the army in 1945.
In 1945 upon his victorious return he married his beloved fiancé of many years Helen Tracy in Brandon, MB. Then in 1945 Stan joined Gulf Oil and during his career of distinction he worked in North America, South America, England, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. When he retired (1979-34 years of service) he was the Senior Vice-President of Exploration and Production of Gulf Oil Canada.
When he retired, with his beloved Helen they moved to Cremona where he was active in the community with the Lions Club, Seniors Club, Royal Canadian Legion, CEO Board of Directors of Olds Hospital and Church. They sold the farm after Helen’s health deteriorated. His mental spirit was maintained through his involvement with Masonry. He became W.M (1990-91) and joined the following concordant bodies: Royal Arch, Otuskwan No. 9, 1988; Cryptic Zadok Council No. 3, 1990; Cyprus Preceptory No. 33, 1991; Al Azhar Shrine & Provost Corp 1991; York Rite College, Pompilius No. 79, 1992; Scottish Rite Perfection Lodge 1994, Rose Croix and Consistary 1995, Grand Dir. Of Ceremonies, Grand Lodge of Alberta, 1994-95.
Stan will be lovingly remembered by his four children; Gail (Howard) Addison, Donald Pearson, Judith (Dr. Allan) Behm and Patricia (Mark) Vass; twelve grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren, Sister Gweneth (William) Sloman and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Helen Beatrice (nee Tracy) in 1998 and two brothers Donald and Pat Pearson.
