Obituary of Elizabeth MUIR

June 16, 1944 – Montreal, Quebec September 8, 2019 – Calgary, Alberta It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Elizabeth Muir, beloved wife of George Muir of Calgary, AB, on Sunday, September 8, 2019 at the age of 75 years. Elizabeth was born on June 16, 1944 in Montreal, QC, to Nancy and Norman Longworth. She was raised with three brothers, Norman, James (aka Jimmy), and David, and three sisters, Heather, Diane, and Nancy. Elizabeth married George on September 14, 1963 at St. Mark’s Anglican Church in Dorval, QC. They have been married for fifty-five years. They moved twenty-seven times and lived in five provinces within Canada, which was initially due to the Navy, and then later on because of the various government contracts that George took on. When Elizabeth retired, she enjoyed life as a Red Hatter and Crown Jewel. She enjoyed her friends in these organizations. She also spent a great deal of time cruising the world and derived great pleasure from those activities. Elizabeth enjoyed visiting different places and cultures on her fourteen cruises. Elizabeth loved to entertain and gained immense joy from decorating and celebrating each holiday season. She was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, and friend to all who knew her. She has not only suffered over the last twenty-three months, but she has also left us too soon. We are grateful for the time we had with her and know her suffering is over and she is now at peace. Elizabeth is survived by her husband George, daughters, Wanda and Patricia; and her granddaughter Briena. Elizabeth also loved and treated Michael and Linda Leahy like her own children, as well as their sons, Mick and Liam, who brought her great joy and pleasure.
