Condolences
For a brief time in our lives, John became a very close friend and with his leaving so soon, there is a empty spot in my life.
John, you were always to ask of other peoples needs first, and I am sure your family felt that.
Good bye my friend,

I first met John at EOG and was immediately impressed by his professionalism, work ethic and desire to do what was best for the company. A very high standard he set for himself – something we could all hope to attain. John and I talked about going fly fishing but something we never did. That I will always regret.
I am very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and yours.
Charlie Williams
We send our deepest condolences for your loss. We trust that the memories of your happy times together will help you through this difficult time. John had a huge impact on those that he mentored. My memory from early in our careers is his big smile at the end of a successful job, or when he beat the pack on a tour on our dirt bikes, or just because that was John.
Sue – I was so sad to hear of John’s passing. John always made time to chat and would leave me smiling. Jamie and I are thinking of you and the boys, Regards, Louise
Susan, Matt & Jesse. Mel worked with John years ago at Schlumberger in Red Deer. We are so very sorry to hear of his passing. We went on many ski trips with John and he came to Ontario for a holiday one time and visited with all of Tina’s family as well. He was a great guy and we have very fond memories of spending time with him. Mel and I are in Arizona and won’t be back in time for the Memorial, but we have many pictures we will send you when we get home.

I started my career in Petrophysics about 30 odd years ago and I remember John Kovacs was always a face I recognized at CWLS meetings and around town. He always struck me as someone who remained sincere and caring despite how he had gained such status in the petroleum industry. I too will miss his smile.
Sue,
It has been many years since we last saw you and John, but Andrea and I have fond memories of the times we spent together socially.
When I think of Schlumberger of Canada, I can’t but help think of John. His work ethic and his professionalism made me proud to be part of the team that he was on. I last saw John a year or so before he took his early retirement, but as always he had a smile on his face and was full of enthusiasm for what he was doing and life in general.
He is truly missed and you and the boys are in our thoughts.
Don and Andrea Gawick

John was my hero. He thought a lot about the work he did, wanting to know every detail and to do the best possible job he could, about understanding rocks and gas and oil and why it worked the way it does. There are not many with the insight he had and I will miss him. We all will. Guys like him are the true strength of humanity. I am sorry, Sue, as you will miss him most of all, and although life will go on without him, he will always be in our thoughts. He was my kinda Guy!
Our deepest sympathy goes out to you and your family at this difficult time.
Sue, Matthew and Jesse
