July 13, 1941 – March 15, 2011 With his beloved wife Jackie and daughter Angela at his side, Gordie peacefully passed away on March 15, 2011 at the age of 69 years. Our hearts are broken. Telephone: (403)243-8200 Gordie was born in Montreal on July 13, 1941, and was a basic good all around man. Being a hard worker brought him dignity and pride as well as respect from his peers. He was a “Jack” of all trades and was always ready to step up and help others whenever necessary. He put more into this world then he ever took out. Retiring from the city of Calgary in 2004 after thirty one years of service, he enjoyed his daily walks around the neighborhood and spent countless hours making our house a home. Playing his guitars and watching the Montreal Canadiens were also favourites. In 2007 baby Kali came into his life- Oh how she loved her “Papa”, and Oh how he loved her. They spent many memorable times together! In July 2010 Gordie was diagnosed with Wegener’s disease. He fought a brave and courageous battle but in the end lost. May he be remembered for the kind, caring, and compassionate person he was, and may he rest in peace. Knowing his memory will be kept alive by those who loved him. Gordie is survived by his loving wife Jackie and children Danny, Caroline, Natalie, Gordie Jr., Angela and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his siblings Alice, Floyd, Shirley, Nelson, and Valerie. Gordie was predeceased by his parents Ivy and Lawrence and siblings; Lawrence, Don, Vince, Laura, and Ella.
