Obituary of STEWART – John Charles
April 28, 1932 – March 11, 2011
Jack passed away peacefully after a long illness at the age of 78.
Jack was born in Tuberose, Saskatchewan and grew up in Fillmore, Saskatchewan. Jack was married to his childhood sweetheart and best friend, Vivian (Lubiens), for 40 years until Viv’s death in 1991. Jack was entrepreneurial from a young age and his career in business started in the building supply industry in various towns in Saskatchewan. Jack, Viv and their three children moved to Calgary from Regina in 1967 where Jack began a long career in advertising first with CFCN radio and later with his own advertising agency – Stewart Advertising. Throughout his career he developed many long friendships with his clients and colleagues and was respected by all. Jack and Viv enjoyed numerous trips to their vacation place in Maui. Jack loved to golf, but hated losing golf balls. He was an avid water-skier despite occasionally nearly losing his dentures in the lake. He was a proud Scotsman and celebrated Robbie Burns’ Day every year with his brother Cliff who passed away in 2010. Jack was a very proud Calgarian and loved the Stampede. He enjoyed his involvement with the CFCN Chinook Centre Breakfast and more recently with Shaw GMC and their chuckwagon sponsorship. Jack married Connie Linckens in 2005 and she provided love and care throughout Jack’s long illness.
He will be lovingly remembered by his sisters – Carol McMillan and Muriel Glenn, his three children – Gloria, Drew and Gary (Sharlene), his grandchildren – Bryce (Angela), Johnathon, Caylee and Ryan, as well as numerous nieces and nephews, friends and colleagues.
The family would like to thank the staff of Unit 74 of the Rockyview General Hospital for their excellent care of Jack over the last several weeks.
