Obituary of HARMS – Marion Adelle

Adelle was born on September 11, 1927 in Byemoor Alberta, to Hugh Stephens Hodgson and Mary Myrtle Hodgson, and passed away on Saturday, February 19, 2011 in Calgary at the age of 83. She leaves to mourn her loss her loving husband of 44 years, Ed Harms, and numerous nieces and nephews. Adelle grew up in Big Valley, before moving to Calgary to finish high school, with graduation from Crescent Heights High School. She graduated from the Calgary General Hospital nursing program as a Registered Nurse in 1950. She was certified as a Registered Nurse in Ontario in 1951, where she worked in a Guelph hospital for four years. She then joined Indian Affairs, where she worked as a nurse in Sioux Lookout, Ontario and Ponoka, Alberta. Upon her return to Calgary, she joined the Calgary Health unit and received her certification as a Public Health Nurse in Alberta in 1959. She worked at the Scarborough Health Clinic for many years, eventually becoming the clinic manager. She retired from nursing in 1985. Married to Edwin Harms on April 9, 1966 in Calgary, Alberta. After many years living in Lakeview, Adelle and Ed moved to Garrison Woods Manor in 2003. She was a very active member of Central United Church for many years, dedicated to helping others. She was also a member of the Central United Church Couples Club, and Adult Fellowship for many years. In recent years, Adelle received excellent care from the staff at the Beverly Centre Glenmore. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive S.W.) on Monday, February 28, 2011 at 2:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
