Obituary of TODESCO – Norman Albert

Beloved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother, Uncle and Friend January 21, 1927 – February 4, 2011 It is with profound sadness and loss that we announce the passing of Norman Todesco on Friday, February 4th at the age of 84 years. Norman was born January 21, 1927 and lived his entire life in Calgary. He is survived by his beloved wife of twenty-eight years Hilda Todesco; two daughters, Dianna Killick (Sid) and Leslie Georgiou (Andy); step-children, Wayne Sondergaard (Agnes), Jim Diebert (Karen), Karl Diebert (Julie) and Wendy Cohen (Adam); thirteen grand children and numerous great-grand children. He is also survived by his sister Irene Bauer (Ted) and brother Ralph Todesco. Norman was predeceased by his first wife Ethel (Norris) and later second wife Pauline (Sondergaard), his older brother Alfred, and two step-sons Richard and Leonard Sondergaard Norman devoted forty-five years of his life to his career at CP Rail where he started as a Call Boy and through dedication, commitment and passion ended his career as the Number One Locomotive Engineer with the CPR. He was affectionately known as “Stormin‘ Norman” by all his peers and lived his life as he steered his engine “Full Steam Ahead!”. Norman retired in 1986 and his love of the railroad continued to remain a passion throughout his life. He enjoyed twenty-five years of retirement with his beloved wife Hilda by his side. Norman will always be remembered as a true gentleman. He will leave behind a legacy of laughter, honesty, hospitality, generosity and his deep commitment of love for his family. A Memorial Service to celebrate Norm’s life will be held at McInnis & Holloway Park Memorial Chapel (5008 Elbow Drive SW) on Friday, February 18th, 2011 at 2:00 pm.
