Condolences
I was very saddened to learn of the passing of Gil Schmaltz. I have known Gil for many years in the curling world. He was a great competitor and I will forever remember him. He curled in the senior league, that I was responsible for, at the Calgary Winter Club. My deepest symapthies go out to the family and all those that loved and respected Gil. The weather was too bad to venture out to the funeral today.

To Edna and your family,
Sorry I was not able to make it to the service. We all bowled together and curled on Friday nights at the North Hill Club. Gil and Denny (Healey) worked together at Air Canada Cargo. It has been 25 years since Denny passed away. Time and having your wonderful family around you do help to make it a little easier.
My deepest sympthy to you.
Rose Merkley

To the Schmaltz family –
I met Gil a number of years ago while working on the provincial curling event committees at the North Hill. I saw him most Wed evenings as his senior mens league played opposite my ladies league. He always greeted me with a warm smile, a kind word and occasionally a comment about my curling game. I never had a grandfather but if I did I would want for him to be a lot like Gil. The world was a better place with him in it.
Our deepest sympathies go out to Gil’s family at this difficult time. May God give you peace and strength in the days ahead and may you always find comfort in your memories.
Dear Edna and Family; I was so sorry to read about your loss. I send you my condolences dear friend. Blessings! Catherine Williams
I was shocked and so sad to hear of Gils passing. He was a great man, and always friendly & a big smile. Now he has gone to join my angel Nick, and they can swap stories of their good times working at Air Canada. May memories of the laughter and love you shared bring you peace now & always.
With sincere sympathy,
Elaine Schulz
Dear Edna and family:
We were shocked to hear about Gil. Our heart felt sympathy goes out to you and your family. It seems like only yesterday that Gil was SKIPPING our team in the Air Canada League, Systems Bonspiels, Transportation bonspiel or the many other events we were entered in. These memories I will cherrish forever. I am pleased to say he was a great work colleague, Boss, Skip and Friend.
He will be deeply missed.
