Obituary of MOORHOUSE – James Allan

June 25, 1961 – January 19, 2011 It is with heavy hearts that we announce the unexpected passing of Jamie, beloved husband of Sandra and father to Kelsey and Julia, at the young age of 49 years, following a courageous three-month battle he was winning. Jamie was born in Pouce Coupe, BC and moved to Calgary at the age of five. Jamie was a caring and gentle soul and was a very proud father and a loving supportive husband. Nothing was more important to him than spending time with his girls, being involved in all their activities, and capturing their milestones with camera in hand. Jamie made it his priority to protect and provide for his family and spend quality time with them. He was very proud of Kelsey’s piano and Julia’s guitar accomplishments. He was Julia’s biggest basketball supporter and never missed a game. Jamie shared his passion of gardening with Sandra. Other interests included reading which he shared with Kelsey, playing electrical guitar with Julia, woodworking, and jogging in Fish Creek Park. Special memories centred on family vacations spent in Maui and driving trips, especially the recent trip to the Grand Canyon, other national parks, and Disneyland. The family cottage at Laclu, ON held a very special place in his heart. Jamie and Sandra had looked forward to growing old together and sharing many more sunsets in Maui where they planned to spend their winters in retirement. Jamie earned a Masters Degree in Economics from the University of Calgary before joining Shell Canada where he was employed for twenty-three years and was respected by many friends and colleagues. Besides Sandra, his loving wife of twenty years, Jamie is survived by the two most important people in his life – his daughters, Kelsey and Julia. He is also survived by his loving parents, Michael and Margaret Moorhouse; his siblings, John (Teresa), Cameron (Rita) and Jennifer (Tim); and nieces and nephews, Brendan, Evelyn, Jesse, Gavin, Michael and Gillian; mother-in-law Elisabeth Groot; sister-in-law Nancy (Darren); brother-in-law Gerry (Cindy); and nieces and nephews, Jordan, Robyn, Logan and Blake. Jamie was predeceased by his father-in-law Gerry Groot Sr. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S Fish Creek Chapel (14441 Bannister Road S.E.) on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church (1414 Shawnessy Boulevard S.W.) on Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at 10:30 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Mountain View Memorial Gardens.
