Born in Brownsville, Ontario on November 17, 1929, the son of the late Dwight and Edna Vincent. Ron spent his teen years in St. Thomas, ON and was very active in the Scouting organization as Cub Leader at Grace United Church for many years. There, he met and married his wife Barbara on August 23, 1952. In 1955, Ron joined Scouts Canada professional staff and served as a Scout Executive in Lethbridge, Calgary, and Toronto. He retired in 1989 and was awarded the Silver Maple Leaf by the Governor General of Canada in February 1990, after thirty-five years of service. Ron and his wife Barbara were active square dancers with the Gadabouts and Prairie Winds Clubs. The last three years they have also enjoyed taking lessons with the Acey Plus Club. One of Ron’s greatest joys was building model ships and he spent long happy hours in his downstairs workshop making sure each detail was exactly right.
