Obituary of PRITCHARD – Roberta Franklin

May 29, 1914 – January 8, 2011 A Life Well Lived It is with heavy hearts and sadness we announce the quiet passing of our mother, Roberta on January 8, 2011 at the age of 96 years. Roberta leaves behind her loving husband of 71 years, Herbert, and five children Eleanor, twins Ginny (Cal) & Vicky, Laurie (Joe) and Bill (Sue) who will all miss her dearly. She will also be missed by nine grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister Willda Greenwood. Roberta was predeceased by her sisters Marion Drager and Gypsy Craig. Roberta attended Normal School in Olds and started her career teaching in country schools in remote areas in Alberta prior to meeting her husband, Herb. After her last child was off to school Bobby returned to her teaching career and taught elementary school children in many Calgary schools. She was a flamboyant and gifted teacher who inspired her students. Roberta and Herb spent many happy years teaching in the Calgary School District. Retirement brought adventures and Bobby & Herb travelled the world, spent winters in the south, taught classes at the Kirby Centre, played bridge, and enjoyed visiting their family near and far and lived life to the fullest. Bobby touched the lives of all she met and will be remembered for her love of fashion, fur coats, hats, wonderful stories, great cooking, generosity and quick wit. A private family memorial service will be held. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to the staff at the Colonel Belcher Center for the loving care they provided to Bobby.
