Condolences
My condolences to Shan’s family. Something made me look up his name on the internet and sadly it brought me to this memorial. How sad to have lost him so young. I always thougth that someday I would get to see him again… I was a very good friend of Shan’s at FGBI. We spent many hours studying and singing and making music together. Playing pingpong…just sitting in the lounge… sometimes we didn’t even have to talk…we just were together and that was a blessing. I have thought of him many times as the years have gone by and was never at the right time or place to reconnect. He was a great guy to know, I considered him my best friend in those years at the Bible School.
Shan is honoured and will never be forgotten for his generous contributions and for the difference he will make helping us improve the quality of life of patients with Marfan Syndrome and related connective tissue & cardiovascular disorders. He is a true example of service to others. Our prayers and condolences to his family.
Just heard of Shan’s homegoing – so sorry. Shan worked for me just after he returned from FGBI, and we remained friends (with his family, as well). A kind, gentle man- he will be missed. Sorry I missed the memorial service. Love and prayers
My sympathy and prayers to Shan’s family and friends. It brings me solace to reflect on his life and the good times shared with Shan and many of his friends. His personality was genuine and caring and shall be remembered. May he rest in peace.
I worked with Shan at Burntsand then again at Talisman. Shan and I both enjoyed a variety of music and over the years attended a number of live events together. He was a genuine guy with integrity, a great sense of humor and truly cared for people. He was a good friend, and I feel fortunate to have had my life cross paths with his. He won’t be forgotten.
I offer my deepest Sympathy.
I met Shan through volunteering at the Calgary Folk Music Festival. He always was very positive, fun and a delight to be around.
My thoughts and prayers today are with his family and friends.
I worked with Shan at Burntsand and have kept touch with him over the years. Shan was a gentle soul and always had a smile on his face. I don’t live in Calgary anymore but I was lucky enough to see him this past June when I was visiting.
I am saddened to hear of Shan’s passing. You won’t be forgotten.
My heartfelt condolences to his family.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you Pam, Lyle and Lindsay.
Pam, Lyle & Lindsay. Though our loss was not completely unexpected one can never be fully prepared. I will miss Shan more that you can know. I’m just thankful I was able to talk with him just a couple of days before his passing and that in his last days he was very happy! My prayers are with you in the coming days as I know they will be difficult. With Love CA!
We send our heartfelt condolences & sympathy to Pam and her family. We feel your sorrow at this time of loss. Remember all the memories of the good times. He will be missed but never forgotten. May God comfort you.
Our deepest sympathy to all of Shan’s family. We knew Shan through Corrie Anne and we were very fond of him. He called me around New Year’s and we had a great talk on how his life was suddenly coming all together again. He was so happy and really looking forward to the changes about to happen. We are really going to miss him.
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I met Shan many years ago and always have run into him at music events. He was a wonderful sweet person who always had something nice to say. I will miss him. Please take care.

I had the pleasure of working with Shan at Burntsand in Calgary. Some people have the gift that they make others around them feel happier, feel better, and smile more. Shan was just such a person, and I am honoured to have been known him.
I’m many miles away, now, and haven’t thought of Shan in a few years. This news has hit me out of the blue and saddened me. My condolences to his friends and family.

It was always a pleasure to share a pint or two with Shan over live music. The conversation was always good and he was so genuinely kind. Peace to you and yours.
My condolences to Shan’s family and many friends. Shan was a wonderful friend so easy to talk to. I met Shan over 20 years ago and we shared so many good times and chats. He had many friends and I am blessed to be among them. I will miss Shan and his wonderful hugs.

My deepest sympathies on the passing of Shan. We worked together at Burntsand. He had a great sense of humour and was always cheerful. May his soul rest in peace.
I worked with Shan at Burntsand 10 years ago and he became a good friend. In the last few years, our favorite thing was to go for Korean BBQ on 17th Ave. We didn’t do it nearly enough, though. Shan was gentle and loving. Ken and I will miss him.
Shan truly was a “gentle” man and will be missed by the diverse group of friends he made over the years. I will miss sitting with him in the beer gardens and enjoying the music together at the Calgary Folk Fest.
When I was in Calgary, one of my first things I would do is to call Shan just to say hello, and ask him how things are going. I will miss this for sure. Pam, Lyle, & Lindsay my sympathy goes out to you. We may see you on Thursday. Cousin Allen
Pam, Lyle & Lindsay…my thoughts and prayers are with you. I have wonderful memories of him as a child, when the 2 of you would come and stay at Grandma Helm’s. In more recent years, he has been of great support and comfort to Allen and Larry. What a wonderful young man Shan was, he will be greatly missed…
My condolences to Shan’s family and friends as they come to terms with their loss. I didn’t know Shan well or long, but that never stopped us from having a great chat over a pint when I was in town and he could make it out to have a visit. I have many fond memories of us spending time together at various music events over the years. It was always a happy surprise to see Shan there. He is one of the most selfless people I ever met, and he definitely touched a place in my heart. He will be missed by many. I wish I could be there to honour his life with those who loved him.
Shan was probably one of the kindest, most selfless person I’ve had the privilege to know. My thoughts are with his family and friends. He will be dearly missed and fondly remembered.
I only met Shan a few times but the one time we drove out to Three Hills together and had a great talk. He was a very warm and gentle guy. My sympathy and prayers go out to his family and friends.
Shan was a good friend to me at FGBI, and when we studied networks at SAIT.
I shall miss him.
Dearest Pam and Family,
Nothing can ever take away
The love a heart holds dear,
Fond memories linger every day,
Remembrance keeps him near.
Much Love,
Bud and Mary Helm
My sympathy goes out to Pamela, Lyle, Lindsay and all Shan’s friends. When I moved to Calgary many years ago, Shan was one of the first people I met. He helped me settle into the city, showed me the cool spots to hear live music and introduced me to his buddies. I’m very grateful for having known him. He was a kind, gentle person who was loved by many and will be dearly missed.
My deepest sympathy regarding Shan. I have known him about 15 years and had many discussion regarding music and he introduced me to a lot of great bands. He was always a gentleman and will be missed.
I am sorry to hear of Shan’s passing. I had the priviledge of working with Shan and hanging out with him and other coworkers. We have memories of a very funny story of Shan getting locked inside TD Square one night after a company function. You brought me lots of laughs kiddo. You will be missed.
