Obituary of FLEER – Emily Elizabeth

December 27, 1934 – January 4, 2011 It is with great sadness that we wish to inform family and friends of the passing of Emily Fleer; she left us peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Tuesday January 4, 2011 at the age of 76. Emily was an active member at St. Mark’s Roman Catholic Church. She was involved in many church activities over the years, such as choir, lectors, church cleaning, visiting the sick and her beloved Catholic Women’s League. She could always be counted on to lend a helping hand. A highlight of her working career was the 6 years she spent working at St. Thomas Moore Parish. The friendships she built there meant the world to her. She also found great enjoyment cheering for her grandson Matthew while he played hockey and playing with granddaughters Robyn and Amanda, a big source of pride and joy for her. We will miss her special family dinners and the homemade bread that she was fond of sending home with us. She is survived by her loving husband John of 45 years, her children Veronica (Ken) of Langdon, David (Kimberley) and Lisa (Clint) both of Calgary, as well as her grandchildren Matthew, Robyn and Amanda. She is also survived by her brothers Michael (Irene) Kubasek of Burnaby BC, Jim (Marge) Kubasek of Edmonton AB and sister Ludmilla Horgus of Lethbridge AB. She was predeceased by her brothers Thomas and Paul and granddaughter Sarah. Those wishing to pay their respects may do so at St. Mark’s Catholic Church (5552 Madigan Drive N.E.) on Friday January 7, at 6:00 PM, with prayers to follow at 7:00 pm. Funeral mass will be celebrated at St. Mark’s Catholic Church (5552 Madigan Drive N.E.) on Saturday January 8, 2011 at 1:00pm with a reception to follow in the church hall.
