Roddy was a great guy and was a pleasure to know. He will be missed at the Niagara Rugby Club.
Kirsty, myself, Stevan Kincaid, Irvine Conner, James Hogg, Bruce McLaren, and David Cochrane can all be found on Facebook and we are in touch with others who are not. I can also be contacted at brian_gordon64@hotmail.com and I’m sure we would all be happy to assist with any arrangements you might care to make in Edinburgh.
We were so sorry to hear of your tragic loss and extend our deepest condolences and thoughts to your families.
My Deepest condolences go to Jamie, Rylen, Oliver and both the Waugh & Allan Families.
I knew Roddy through Rugby in Burlington. A gentleman First and foremost. A sad loss and he’ll be greatly missed.
Many thanks to all of those who have posted such kind words about Roddy – we are all very grateful for them at this agonising time.
I would like to pass on to Roddy’s old school/ Edinburgh friends that we are intending to honour Roddy’s memory in Scotland and would very much like to include as many of you as possible. Perhaps you could let me know the best way to contact you Bruce and Stevan.
Jamie, Rylen and Oliver and the Waugh and Allan Families;
No words could ever express the deep respect and admiration that I had for Roddy. A true warrior and gentleman, who led by example both on and off the field. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Mark and I would like to express our deepest sympathy for your loss. Roddy was a great guy and by far one of the nicest people we have met since coming to Canada. I always thought it was one of the coolest and most awesome things to see Roddy and Rylen playing side by side in the rugby dome. He was an excellent coach, always patient and understanding. Words cannot say how much he will be missed.
Regards,
Mark and Rebecca(USA) Trapp (Burlington RFC)
Roddy’s old school friends and others in Edinburgh have only just heard that we have lost Roddy, though we have been striving to reconnect with him for several years now. He made the cover of the Evening News.
Roddy was a key part of our teenage group when we were growing up and I became a closer friend still when we both chose Glasgow for our further studies; he at the famous Art School as a Ceramicist and myself studying History at the ancient University. Wild times we had in and around his fabulous pad in Park Circus and strange days in the Art School Bar, but those are just a fraction my personal memories. I cannot recall his face other than graced with a laugh or a smile.
I hope there will be a service for Roddy in Edinburgh so his oldest friends can say goodbye in a fitting manner too.
Our deepest and most heartfelft condolences to his immediate family and those several others who lost those dear to them.

Roddy and I were at school together in Edinburgh from the early 80’s, he was a great friend and partner in crime during those teenage years while we grew up and took our first steps to being adults.
In the early 90’s our paths split as he headed off to Canada and I took a few steps that has eventually brought me to Hong Kong, a city he was more than familiar with.
To his wife and kids, his mother, father and sister, I pass on my deepest sympathies and condolences. I would very much like to get in touch again with you and share some stories about Roddy that will reinforce what you know already, he was unique and loving, artistic and bright.
The years may have passed but he is always in my heart and in my memories.
Stevan
My Thoughts and Prayers are with Jamie, her son and extended Family. Deepest condolences.

I was saddened to hear the news of Roddy’s passing he was a great man, friend, father and player.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family.
And let us remember as Henry Scott Holland wrote about death, life and the hereafter:
Death is nothing at all.
I have only slipped away into the next room.
I am I, and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other, that we still are.
Call me by my old familiar name,
speak to me in the easy way which you always used.
Put no difference in your tone,
wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was,
let it be spoken without effect,
without the trace of a shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It is the same that it ever was;
there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval,
somewhere very near, just round the corner.
And all is well.
See you someday Roddy.
Regards,
James
I only knew Roddy briefly through playing and coaching but know his commitment to rugby and his family is second to none. He has impacted many lives for the better and I wish my condolences to his family.
We are saddened by the news of the loss of Roddy. We first met him a few years ago and the world will not be the same without him.

Jamie, Rylen and Oliver,
I am so shocked and saddened by this devastating news. I’m still numb. You just moved from Ancaster as my attached neighbour in August. Roddy was such great person with so much zest and kindness in him. He always, always had nice things to say.
My thoughts and prayers are with you always Jamie.
Respectfully,
Wendy Cox

I too am a better person for knowing Roddy. He was one of the first people I met when I came to Canada. He was a fine rugby player and even better person. Burlington Rugby Club lost a true brother and mentor. My thoughts go out to the family.
Love always James Raynor and family
We are so saddened by the news that everybody’s efforts came up short to save your loved ones. Our deepest sympathy go out to Jamie and her Familiy.
Our deepest sympathies go out to Roddy’s and Jamie’s families. We were both lucky enough to have known Roddy through our passions for rugby. I played and coached with him. He was a gentleman off the field and a true professional on it. We are blessed to have shared our times with him

Rylen,
I’m really sorry for what happened to your family. Our prayers are with your mom while she gets better and with you and your brother.
If you need to talk at school, you can talk to me.
Jacquie and I were there when Jaimie and Roddy first met. He was always quick to laugh and a joy to be around. Roddy was, and still is, a terrific model for his sons Ry and Ollie to follow throughout their lives. We enjoyed hiking in the mountains and despite blisters and fatigue always had a camera and a smile ready.
We will miss you and always carry a memory of you in our hearts and backpacks
It leaves us without words to describe our thoughts for the tragic loss your familes have been forced to endure. Our hearts ache for your families and you have been in our prayers since we heard of this tragedy.
Thankfully you have all the good memories and the strength of your families. God bless you all.
My thoughts are with Jaimie, Rylen, Oliver and the Waugh and Allan Families. I had the good fortune to know Roddy both as a team-mate and with our mutual efforts with the junior program with the Burlington Centaurs RFC. Roddy and Rylen were a huge part of our success with the junior program at our club. Roddy symbolized rugby… as an opponent a fearsome competitor as a team-mate quietly leading by example. Off the field a gentleman with an easy smile that came with the confidence displayed on the field. I recently read a comment by Heather Moyse who was a gold medal winner at the Vancouver winter games and also on the National Senior Womans Rugby Team that resonates “there is a connection between rugby players that does not exist in other sports”

My deepest sympathy to you and your family. My thoughts are with you, and will stay with you in the days to come! My heart goes out to you.

Roddy, you were always an important member of Burlington RFC.
You were a feisty and talented player on the field and a great friend to everyone afterwards.
You will be missed dearly by all and we will always remember your smile and your kindness.
Sincerely,

Jan and I would like to express our very deepest sympathy to the Waugh and Allan families on the loss of your loved ones. I knew Roddy particularly well from our connection at Burlington Centaurs Rugby Club and I always enjoyed his frienship and support. He will be sorely missed by all. What a tragedy.
Respectfully, John Truman
My deepest condolences go to Jaimie, Rylen, Oliver and the Waugh and Allan families.
Roddy was a terrific guy and will be missed dearly. His contribution to the blue and orange on and off the field was excellent especially in the junior program. He always had a positive attitude on the pitch and that’s why everyone enjoyed playing with him, Reds and the firsts. We had a great night out in Niagara before he moved out to Alberta. There are lots of memories like that we all should remember and focus on in this time.
Respectfully

Roddy you were my best friend and I will love and miss you always. You were always there for me whenever I needed you and I am so happy I was in your life for as long as I was. You introduced me to the arts, golf, video games and of course rugby. You were such an amazing friend.
My thoughts are with your family…

I’m really not sure what to say. Although I haven’t seen Roddy for a couple years, I clearly remember his great smile, and his positive attitude on and off the pitch. He will be missed.
Cathy, my family and I have the Allan and Waugh families in our thoughts. I’ve lost a fellow coach, a fellow rugby player, someone I felt I was honoured to know. They’ve lost a dad, a best friend and much more than that.
I’m a better person for having known Roddy and I will miss him.
My thoughts and prayers are with Jaimie, Rylen and Oliver and also the extended family.
Roddy was a terific guy and I was proud to have known him. His contribution to the rugby club and in particular the junior division was outstanding and his warm friendly personality was reflected both on and off the field.
God bless all of you.
Respectfully,
Dave Burnett
My deepest condolences go to Jaimie, Rylen, Oliver and the Waugh and Allan families.

Sending love and caring thoughts to you Jaimie and your whole family.
Roddy was an outstanding gentleman. I knew Roddy through his participation in local rugby. A kind, genuine, sincere person and a Rugby Warrior. We were all better for knowing Roddy. Roddy’s Rugby Family in Ontario and other parts of the world where he played the game, will all greatly miss him. My sincere condolences to Roddy’s Family Jaimie, Rylen, Oliver and to the Waugh Families.
All my prayers and condolences go to Jaimie, Rylen and Oliver. Roddy was a super bloke whom I am honoured to have known. I loved playing rugby alongside him in the 2nds/Reds and always admired his passion and humour. He certainly helped this fellow immigrant settle in in Burlington.
Respectfully
Tony Windsor
