Obituary of LOEWEN – Kenneth Kenny Brian

March 12, 1965 – December 10, 2010 Kenneth “Kenny” Brian Loewen, beloved husband of Lee of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Friday, December 10, 2010 at the age of 45 years. Kenny was born on March 12, 1965 in Red Deer, AB. Kenny started his school life there. When the family moved to Calgary he went from Westgate to Egbert and finished at Crescent Heights. Then, he went on to the University of Calgary where he took Mechanical Engineering. Kenny was always an oilfield hand and started working with Dowell of Canada while going to university. Upon leaving U of C he continued with Dowell (Schlumberger). For several years, he was in the drilling fluid business but returned to his real interest in the frac business in 2006 when he became a founding partner in Century Oilfield Services. For the past year Kenny was working on founding a new oilfield company as well as spending quality time with his family. Kenny’s work allowed him to travel all over Canada, the United States, China, Iran and India, both in service and sales. Kenny and his family spent many happy times in their second homes in Mesa, AZ. and Whitefish, MT. This fall the family took Nana and Papa to Disneyland for a wonderful family trip that created very special memories. Kenny was an avid golfer, sports fan and a previous player/president of the Calgary Rams Rugby Club. He was also a loyal season ticket holder of the Calgary Flames. The few live Flames games he missed were watched on T.V. This year he was sure his team, The Steelers, would win the Super Bowl. Everyone who knew Kenny knew of his passionate love for music, especially Rock and Roll! Besides his loving wife Lee, Kenny is survived by his children, Jamey (10), Paige (8) and Bradley (2); parents Allan and Donna of Calgary, AB; siblings and their spouses, Jim (Nanette), Kathleen Cabral (Glenn), Brenda Schreindorfer (John), Cheryl (Darren Payne), father-in-law Ken Gidluck of Biggar, SK., his niece and nephew Candace and Tyler Schreindorfer of Calgary and numerous other nieces and nephews in Alberta and Saskatchewan. His beloved dog Maggie was one of his greatest friends. It would take too many pages to list the rest of his surviving relatives, friends and acquaintances, but he loved them all. Kenny was the glue that held so many people together and he will be terribly missed. Funeral Services will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Wednesday, December 15, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
