Obituary of WOOLDRIDGE – Stephen Steve Anthony

August 9, 1944 – November 24, 2010 Stephen “Steve” Anthony Wooldridge beloved husband of Aileen of Calgary, passed away on Wednesday, November 24, 2010 at the age of 66 years. Stephen was born in Trinidad, West Indies on August 9, 1944. He moved to Canada in 1963 to attend St. Mary’s University in Halifax where he graduated with a Bachelors of Commerce Degree. He married the love of his life Aileen in June 1968 and moved to Toronto where he worked for Trans Canada Pipelines until his retirement in Calgary, after serving twenty-nine years. A couple years later Dad decided he was not ready to retire just yet so he got a job at RONA which he thoroughly enjoyed. Steve was co-founder of the Toronto West Indian Social Club TRINGO as well as CLUB TROPICAN here in Calgary. Steve loved the game of soccer and passed on that love to his children. He coached his sons for many years and cheered from the stands when he decided to hang up his whistle! He loved to watch the English Premier League and support his two favourite teams, Liverpool and Manchester United. In 2006, Steve along with his three sons, travelled to Germany for the FIFA WORLD CUP. That was one of his most treasured experiences as got to see his homeland, Trinidad, play against his favourite country England. Being from Trinidad, he also loved to play cricket. He also wore the blue and white, proudly cheering on his beloved Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. His passion in life was his family and he always motivated us to reach our full potential. Dad was a proud man who adored his wife, children and grandchildren. He and Mom just celebrated their forty- second wedding anniversary this June. He had many friends whom he treasured and loved as well. Besides his loving wife Aileen, Stephen is survived by his five children, Edward (Kari), Andrew (Susan), Kristine (Scott), Derek and Vanessa; grandchildren, Nicholas, Jack, Cameron, Katie, Rachel, Ashley and Ryan; brother David; and sisters, June, Jocelyn, Patsy, Helen, Shirley, Toni and Maureen. Stephen was predeceased by his parents, Henry Wooldridge and Elma Wooldridge.
