Obituary of BRIMACOMBE – Karen

March 8, 1943 – November 21, 2010 It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Karen Brimacombe on Sunday, November 21, 2010. Karen was born in Edmonton, AB where she attended school and received her B.Ed. from the U of A. She moved to Calgary where she met and married Ron Brimacombe in 1966. Her biggest project besides her children, was being an Author and Publisher, together with The Best Of Bridge. They would impact the cook book market for over thirty years winning numerous awards and selling millions of books. Karen enjoyed cooking with her close group of friends and will be remembered for her extreme kindness, her intelligence and grace, her command of the English language, especially when doing crossword puzzles and loyalties as a friend. She will be missed. Karen is survived by her three children, Alan (Gretel) Brimacombe, Nancy (Amedeo) Cortese, Peter (Katie) Brimacombe all of Calgary, eleven grandchildren; Adeline, Jody, Rachael, Tyler and Heather Brimacombe, Amedeo and Gianluca Cortese, Chloe, Sophie, Lola and Ellie Brimacombe, and a brother David (Madeline) Crawford. Karen will be remembered by her children and grandchildren for her marvellous family dinners, tea parties, swimming in the pool and throwing rocks in the river. She was predeceased by her parents John and Verna Crawford, a brother Johnny Crawford and a grandson Ryan Brimacombe.
