Obituary of TURCATO –Maria

March 10, 1930 – November 19, 2010 Maria Turcato, beloved mother and grandmother, passed away peacefully in Calgary, on Friday, November 19, 2010, at the age of 80. Maria was Born 1930, near Castelfranco Veneto, Italy. Maria was a doting mother, grandmother and a very talented and accomplished seamstress, cook and gardener. Maria came to Canada in 1954 and married her fiancé Bruno, also from Castelfranco. Maria and Bruno lived on a farm, near Taber, Alberta and in 1956, they moved to Lethbridge to raise their family. They lived in Lethbridge for 34 years. Maria is survived by her children, Franco (MaryJane) Turcato, Oscar Turcato, and Cathy (Ken) Turcato-Woodword; grandchildren, Megan, Adrian, and Hailey Turcato, and December, Madison and Gina Turcato-Woodward; her brothers and sisters, Virginia Turcato, Giudita (Gino) Turcato, Guerrino (Elsa) Bergamin, Renata (Angelo) Bergamin, and Pietro (Gee) Bergamin; sister-in-law Antonietta; and many nieces and nephews in Italy and Canada. Maria was predeceased by her husband Bruno; her brother Umberto Bergamin; and her brother-in-law Primo Turcato. Relatives and friends are invited to Prayers and Tributes at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, November 26, 2010 at 7:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Luke’s Catholic Church (Corner of Northmount Drive & Northland Drive N.W.) on Saturday, November 27, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Graveside Service to follow at Queen’s Park Cemetery.
