Obituary of FISHER – Rollo Armstrong

May 25, 1931 – November 18, 2010 Rollo Armstrong Fisher, beloved husband of Chris , passed away on Thursday, November 18, 2010 after a lengthy courageous battle with numerous illnesses. Born in Cremona, AB, Rolly’s early life was shaped by hard times and as a result he learned the value of hard work and standing on your own feet. In 1956 he joined the Calgary Police Service and served as a proud and dedicated member for thirty-five years, beginning by walking the beat, moving up in the ranks to Detective, Staff Sgt. and completing his career as an Inspector. Despite his successes Rolly remained humble and loyal in all walks of his life. His courage and determination became more evident when illness forced him to retire in 1991. He set even a higher standard of never giving up. Besides family, career, and friends, Rolly had a love of nature and found freedom and peace spending his most memorable times at Water Valley. Rolly is survived by his wife Chris; five cherished children, Wendy (Steve), Jim (Bonnie), Terri (Shawn), Steven and Shanon; six grandchildren, Aleisha, Lisa, James, Alex, Quinn and Riley; and two great grandchildren, Jared and Makennia. He is also survived by his brother Eric (Gertie); mother-in-law Eva Koselak; nieces and numerous cousins. Rolly was predeceased by his first daughter Debbie; father and mother. Our deepest gratitude to Dr. C. Morse, the Palliative Home Care team especially Cheryl RN, Lana RN, Lisa RT, Nyariay and Wendy of Comcare who filled our days with comfort and compassion. Rolly’s brother Eric elevated the meaning of dedication through his selfless time and assistance. The soul would have no rainbow if the eyes had no tears. A Memorial Service will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Monday, November 29, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
