Obituary of HARVEY – John

July 5, 1923 – November 4, 2010 John Harvey, beloved husband of Doris of Calgary, passed away suddenly on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at the age of 87 years, after a long and happy life. Besides his loving wife of fifty-seven years, Doris; John is also survived by seven children, Frances (Terry Schleyer), Robert, Carol (Martin Jones), Arlene (Ian Weatherdon), Clifford (Gail), Henry, and Doris; seven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren. John was born in Vancouver and lived most of his life in the Fraser Valley, BC and Calgary, AB. He was a veteran of World War II where he served in the air force marine division. John had many careers. He was a commercial fisherman off the coast of BC then joined a family run business, Riverdale Lumber Company for many years. John was an entrepreneur with his own door manufacturing business in Vernon, BC prior to moving to Calgary where he worked for Beaver Lumber. John enjoyed all outdoor activities, especially golf, soccer, baseball and walking. He passed away enjoying his outdoor pursuits. John will be sadly missed and fondly remembered by family and friends. A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at McINNIS & HOLLOWAY’S, Chapel of the Bells (2720 Centre Street North) on Friday, November 12, 2010 at 10:30 a.m. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
