Condolences
Jody was my son, Owen’s coach. He was a great coach and great guy- generous and kind. He will surely be missed. I am so sorry for your loss.
Jody was one of the most compassionate and caring coaches I have ever met. I was fortunate to have the opportunity to step in as his team’s trainer over the seasons. He was always so much fun to watch as a coach.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family.

My wife says everything happens for a reason and I believe that more than ever now. As a family there was a certain frustration with hockey in general, that was until we had the privledge of meeting Jody. A no BS guy and just so easy to like. There has to be something we were missing, to our great pleasure there was not. As my son said a players coach as I can say a man’s man. After 2 years of coaches corner I will genuinely miss the following Day conversation of the game and its positives. His passion for the game was so refreshing to see, something that was not about himself at anytime but the Team all of the time. It seems that passion wasn’t only reserved for hockey but family and friends also. Mel I wish he was still in your arms instead of Gods. With respect Jim, Janice, Colin Mckay
I was deeply saddened by the news of Jody’s passing. Having the privilege of serving in hockey alongside Jody for several years was a true pleasure. Jody set an example for all with his undying support and encouragement. My son had not yet reached the age to be coached by Jody, which is truly our loss. To Mel, Sarah, Jason, Jody’s mom, Joey and family, my sincere condolences.

His and your tireless efforts gave us such love for the hockey rink and so many friends in Trails West. What a tremendous legacy of love for family and community service Jody has left. Dear Mel & Family,
We are so sorry to hear about Jody. We have never met another individual quite like Jody – he was compassionate, caring and had great integrity. He will be greatly missed by all whom had the privilege of meeting & knowing him.
Dear Mel and Family
As most, we were shocked at the news and immediately stricken by the magnitude of loss you and the family must feel. To have had Jody and you in our lives as our boys progressed through hockey was simply wonderful. Jody was a role model to us all in his unconditional love for his family and his endless passion for the community he so willingly served.
To our family, Jody was a man of significance. His support and encouragement contributed to the positive development of our three boys. And for that we will be forever grateful. His legacy – beyond your terrific family – will be the enormous impact he has made on so so many.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Dear Mel, Sarah and Jason . The family here in Oshawa was shocked and saddened
by Jody’s passing. He was far too young to leave us. He was always larger than life and you always knew when Jody arrived as all heads turned his way. I remember our visit when you all came to Whitby and I was so impressed with your sweet family. And to Joey , God be with you Auntie , we love you dearly and our prayers are with you and the family
Dear Joey
You are in our thoughts and prayers at this time of sadness.
Hugs! Love Lori and Mick xo
We were shocked to learn of the passing of ‘Coach Jody’.
He was such a motivating person and always offering words of inspiration to all hockey players.
It seemed like he lived at the arenas. It didn’t matter what team was playing, he was always there and offered kind words to all the players & their families. He had a passion for hockey and truly enjoyed being at the arena. Jody was a familiar face and one you could turn to with any questions. He was eager to help any player and was the one you recognized at any Trails West game or practice.
He was such an amazing man and he will be truly missed!
Thank you Coach Jody!
Our sincerest condolences to the Bryan family. May the love of those around you help you through your sadness.
Peace, prayers and blessings,
The Marasco Family
Dear Mel and Family!
We are very saddened for your loss and we know that no amount of words said will lessen your pain. However we know this world is a better place because Jody was in it. Jody made a huge difference in Christians and our lives because of his caring, generous, positive and hockey loving nature. Jody was a terrific man and he will be missed.
If we can do anything for you now or later please call.
Sincerely with Love
Birgitta and Gert Holmqvist
We are truly sorry to hear of Jody’s passing. We are friends of his mother Joey through the music at The Lanc in Kitchener.
He was too young to die like this. It sounds like he enjoyed life and all it had to offer. We extend our condolences to his wife Mary Lynne, children Sarah & Jason and of course to our dear friend Joey.
Sincerely
Dorine & Brian Dinsdale
It was with the deepest sadness to learn of the passing of “Coach Jody”.
We have so many fond memories of hockey because of Jody. He was always such a caring man. He consistently demonstrated the meaning of respect for others and how far kindness, encouragement and caring for another human being can go.
His enthusiasm for hockey was infectious and he always had a way of lifting your spirits – no matter how your day was going.
There are so many families and hockey players, young and old, that owe a debt of gratitude to this special man.
Thank you Jody for all you did. The Calgary hockey family will never be the same.
Blessings,
Kurtlin, Teresa and Sieg Schwarz
