Obituary of BRYAN – Joseph George

July 18, 1956 – October 18, 2010 Jody Bryan beloved husband of Mary Lynne Bryan passed away on Monday, October 18, 2010 at the age of 54 years. Jody was born in Oshawa, ON on July 18, 1956. Jody moved to Calgary with his loving wife in 1982 and pursued a long career in sales. He coached baseball and hockey and was Division Co-ordinator for Trails West and recently was Calgary Royals Athletic Association Junior B Gold hockey coach. Jody wasn’t just a coach, he cared for his players with a fierce loyalty and was a never ending source of encouragement and support. Calgary hockey will never be the same. There could be no man more proud of his family than Jody. He was a coach, father and consummate supporter. Jody’s persistence in teaching his son to golf finally paid off this summer, which Jody would reluctantly attest to after losing so many rounds to his son. Sarah inherited her father’s dramatic flair and pursues an education in the Arts. Jody was her most ardent supporter and at times was the only one in the audience doing the wave. He preached respect for everyone he met and cherished every woman in his life. Jody will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 30 years, Mary Lynne; daughter Sarah and son Jason; mother Joey, sisters Cindy (Lofty) McDowell, Terry (Bill) de Gouw and Monica Bryan; brother Mark (Gena) Bryan, Mary Lynne’s family (Conley), numerous nieces, nephews and surrogate children. He was predeceased by his father Joseph Justin Bryan and his baby sister Samantha. A Celebration of Jody’s Life will be held at Thorncliffe Greenview Community Hall (5600 Centre St. N.W.) on Friday, October 22, 2010 from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Forward condolences through www.mcinnisandholloway.com.
