Our most sincere condolences to the Hunter Families (Bev and Ken);

Our respective families go a long way back, and we shared many memories with both your Mom and Dad from early Kamsack and Madge Lake days.

Not only was your Mom a beloved teacher, but she was a gracious lady who gave so much of her time to the community of Kamsack. Musical theatre was one of her biggest contributions to small town living both through directing ‘productions’ in the community hall and the Church. Margaret had an outstanding ablility to bring out the best in kids of all ages, so much so that she was a favourite teacher for many of her pupils.

Marg was considered an honorary member of the Fred Woodward family, and there were many stories and laughs with Jean, Lucy and Alice.

We shall remember Margaret fondly…

Dear Hunter Families,

My dad (Jim) just told me about Margaret passing, and I also read it in the Kamsack Times today.

I just wanted to acknowledge her life, and what an elegant, inspiring and kind woman she was. When I think of “Mrs. Hunter”, I first remember her from Victoria school teaching music, or at church playing the piano. In summertime, of course I saw her often at Madge Lake and I remember her always having a beautiful suntan in crisp her white skirts, with a tennis racket in hand…or playing bridge at our cottage with my mom and Aunt Irene and all ‘the regulars’!

She lived an active and full life and was very much a part of the Kamsack and Madge Lake community.

My condolences, and I hope that happy memories of her bring you and your families comfort at this time.

Sincere sympathy to you and your family. I was one of her students in grade 4/5 that she taught at Assiniboine School in Kamsack. I have never forgotten the Al Jolson songs that we rehearsed. Over my lifetime whenever I’ve heard “April Showers” or “Mammy” one couldn’t help thinking of Mrs. Hunter. She left a lasting impression on many of us.

Our sincere sympathy on the death of your mother, grandmother and great grandmother, Margaret Hunter. She was one of a kind with her great smile and pleasant understanding about all whom she worked with in school, church and the community. Her memories will remain with us forever. Bev, Gordon and family; Ken, Sheilah and family. Please accept our sympathy on the death of your mom. She lived a full wonderful life and touched the hearts and lives of so many people including ours. As you may know, Stan taught with Margaret at Assiniboine School. Staff Socials were frequent and most enjoyable. Your mom was always a happy person and it rubbed off on everyone. Her gift of music was shared by many in our community of KAMSACK. Our sincere sympathy. Your Mom was such a nice person. I have warm memories of her as my teacher. She always seemed so youthful in spirit to me even when I last saw her in 2005.

I am so sorry to hear of Margaret’s Passing. During the short time I got to know her I must say I enjoyed every aspect of her wonderful spirit. She made me smile and her piano playing was a wonderful comfort.

I hope that family and loved ones are close during this hard time.

It was a pleasure to have met Margaret over the years at holiday gatherings. Her joyful demeanour and her love of discussion will be missed at the dinner table.

Sorry to hear of your Mom’s passing Bev. She had an amazing life for 97 years and I was pleased to have met her.

Your mom really knew how to “live” well and that is an admirable quality in a woman. We will miss her presence at family gatherings in Calgary. She left a great legacy in her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
