Obituary of HUNTER – Margaret Adeline

January 26, 1913 – September 26, 2010 “To Teach is to touch lives forever.” Anonymous Margaret Adeline Hunter peacefully completed her life’s journey on September 26, 2010. Although she resided in Calgary for her final years, she was proud to have been born, raised and lived in Kamsack, Saskatchewan… a passion she never hesitated to share with anyone she met. The only child of Rudy and Jesse Kendall, she was encouraged to be active, and excelled at hockey and tennis as well as the piano. A life-long love of sports and music was instilled and she would share her talents and enthusiasm. Margaret had a passion for teaching, beginning her career in 1932, in a rural “One Room Schoolhouse” with a class of forty-two students, grades one to ten. For most of her career, it was Grade Four, and a generation of Kamsack students remember the Music and the Programs. Likewise, brides and grooms for over forty years were ushered into matrimony by a lively Wedding March, during her tenure as Church Organist. In grade two, Margaret met Lloyd Hunter, who was to be the love of her life. Married in 1938, they enjoyed a full life together until his passing in 1993. Margaret is survived by her children, Bev (Gordon) Cumming of Calgary and Ken (Sheila) Hunter of London, Ontario; grandchildren, Sally (Darren) Driscoll, Patty Cumming (Mark Loewen), Corey (Rod) Pennoyer, all of Calgary, Janel (Steve) Morrison of London, ON and Miles (Jaimie) Hunter, of London, England; and nine great grandchildren who loved her as “GG,” Daniel, Cameron, Emmett, Kinsey, Baxter, Kendal, Teagan, Casey, and Gavin. A Celebration of Margaret’s Life will be held in Kamsack at a later date. Condolences may be forwarded through www.mcinnisandholloway.com. If friends so desire, memorial tributes may be made directly to the charity of the donor’s choice. In living memory of Margaret Hunter, a tree will be planted at Big Hill Springs Park, Cochrane by McINNIS & HOLLOWAY FUNERAL HOMES, Chapel of the Bells, 2720 CENTRE STREET NORTH Telephone: (403) 276-2296.
